We don't currently have cable. My wife thinks that paying for cable is ridiculous when almost all of our shows are on basic channels (which we get for free). She also says (which I agree with) that paying for 350 channels of CRAP is ridiculous. I see her point, but I hate missing my sports games!!!!!! (when of course, they are not available on reg basic channels that is).
So, which do you prefer?

I just watch the shows I like on netflex or something

I think that satellite + DVR is worth the money. You may not find every channel thrilling or particularly useful, but there's so much variety that you're bound to discover new shows to watch and love if you do a little exploring!

I like netflix. Sure, everything isn't on there, but it's enough for me; And TV isn't a priority in my life.

I've got cable.

Cable and I love it although I do use it quite often.

We have Netflix and watch the rest of the movies/tv shows we want to watch online.

We'll go nuts if we don't have cable - my husband LOVES his NFL and ESPN channels.

When I lived in Canada, all my science fiction TV was on the regular TV.

I don't have a TV, myself.
I watch some shows with my friend, but we watch them on her computer, anyway. They're mostly shows you can't get on cable in the US, anyway.

We have Dish Network, but Netflix for movies. I don't even know why we have tv anymore, but for the kids cartoons.

I have cable. I can't afford any big packages and I get jealous of my parents who have almost all my the packages.

no cable but we have netflixs

I have satellite and Netflix. Although I might scrap the Satellite and go for Hulu and Netflix.

I have some 350 channels and Netflix. Being an at home mom I need options for myself and my tot. The first year after I had my baby we had the free stuff it was tourture day time tv is terrible. Netflix kinda saved me. The DVR is the best I watch a ton of shows and can have my "me" time whenever I want and watch them. so no shame for me in paying a little over 100 bucks for all of that and upgrated wireless.

We pay for cable TV. This is only because Comcast had an offer that TV+ internet package was a lot cheaper than internet alone. We never got the cable box for the TV portion. We watch most movies and TV programs off the internet.

There wasn't an "Other" option, but I prefer netflix actually. We do have cable though, and sometimes I'll put on the discovery channel, nat geo, or syfy.

Yeah, we've been using netflix too, but lately it seems they don't have much of anything on there. I think my wife is about a week away from caving lol

Has anyone heard of Hulu? Its sorta like Netflix, and sometimes they have shows/movies that netflix doesn't. Its kinda frustrating tho cause they sometimes have shows that are split up in the middle of the season ....some are free/basic membership and the others you have to pay for lol.

Comcast is who we have now and its so frustrating! They keep upping our bill each month by about 10 bucks! We started out with $20/mo for internet (and not even the fast one either). We're up to paying $70 a month for JUST internet! They are totally screwing us. watch out with them. We'd go with someone else but they are the only ones that service our area, for now.

Really I don't even know. We have most of DirectTV's basics I guess, but we only watch the clean shows which is like 3 channels so... we're paying a lot for only 3 channels!

No TV for me, not home enough to use it. I get weather on my Android, newspapers on my Kindle, and I have Netflix for those rare moments when I can lay down and finish watching a movie before I fall asleep.

We refuse to pay for TV

I love watching the game from my the comfort of my own home -- so I don't know what I would do if I couldn't watch my games.

We don't watch TV. I watch Youtube and MySoju a bit, but we ditched our service provider long ago.

I grew up with about five channels and am used to not having cable. Love Netflix, though.

Do you think that cable/satellite tv is worth the price that the companies are charging these days? Im not talking about those "Get in with us now and pay a ridiculously low price now, until 6 months from now when we jack the prices up on you" deals. Im talking Month to month actual cost.

Depends on who you go thru. Just don't get hooked up with Direct tv because if you want to get out you have to pay 400 bucks and it is a two year contract. I have them and I am pissed about that. I would have went with Time Warner. Direct TV sucks they don't have many stations. I watch mostly the low channels as well. But I like to have the dvr and I like the extra kid channels. I do not pay for Hbo and all that crap if there is anything I want to watch movie wise I will use my Netflix.

I am stuck with dish network cause it was all I could get where I live. At least thats what I was told at first and now I am locked into a two year contract. Sucks but so far It is okay it has its pros and cons and my 1st years bill isnt to bad we shall see when I start getting second years bills.
03/04/2012
We've had dish for 8-9 years and are pretty satisfied with them. I don't pay for showtime or HBO and just have the basics plus HD. (The hubby thinks he HAS to have HD)
03/04/2012
Again, for me, TV + internet was cheaper than internet alone. We absolutely need internet, so yeah, I'd say it's worth the price
