I usually have a pretty good pattern. My wife is the one that has crazy hours. Shes up with the baby all hours of the night and she has insomnia, so that doesn't help. Me, just recently I developed issues sleeping, so as you can imagine now the entire house is out of whack! lol.

I suck at sleeping too. Or rather, I suck at falling asleep. Once I'm alseep I have no problem sleeping for 8+ hours...if I'm able to (kids, schedules, etc...usually not an option).

For those of you who have a hard time falling asleep, you might be low on Melatonin, a hormone made by the Pineal gland in your own brain, just read the Melatonin highlight to learn more about it, it's not going to do you any harm to click on it, it's a Webmd page.

I have terrible insomnia. I used to take Melatonin and Simply Sleep. That stopped working so I now take Ambien. I wouldn't really recommend Ambien because sometimes it gives me bad trips where I hallucinate really scary stuff. I'm going to ask my doctor to switch me next time I go in. For mild sleep issues, Melatonin is the way to go. I also hear warm milk works well. Keeping a good night schedule helps as well.

I wake up early (sometimes as early as 3:30am) and can't get back to sleep.

It really helps to have a fan on; always help me sleep. Some of those sound-masters work great too because it really blocks out any noises that may disturb you and creates a peaceful atmosphere.

Hope this helps!

I've heard 'sleep experts' recommend not looking at any screens for a couple hours before bed. No computer, tv, iphone, etc. I've got a noisemaker in my room that makes white noise and it helps me a LOT. Drowns out all those noises that distract me when I'm trying to fall asleep. I also put up black-out curtains to keep the room dark.

A consistent night time routine does help. I read the screen limits help, but I couldn't tell a difference, so I quit. Ef is now part of my nighttime routine. But I have insomnia too.

I do NOT envy insomniacs, and it worries me how many I've met. Normally I can get to sleep without too much trouble. Hot weather and caffeine past noon or so are the two most likely culprits if I'm having trouble.

There's a couple of things I can do when I think I might need some help. Drinking warm milk or having an orgasm can speed things up. Having a fan on if it's warm enough helps too, and years ago I used to play soft music when it was too cold for a fan.

Being consistent on when you go to bed can help your body know when to start winding down, or so I've heard.

I usually take Melatonin when I can't sleep. It seems to help.

I rarely ever sleep through the night or fall asleep before lying in bed more than an hour. Melatonin does help sometimes, though.

I'll second the Melatonin, but if you take too much you can start to hallucinate

It typically takes me hours to fall asleep and I have tried just about everything. I think my problem is that I think way too much and my brain doesn't come with an off switch. It's actually 4:29 AM right now where I am.
