A friend of mine shared this on Facebook and I couldn't resist sharing it with all of you as well. So a cyclist in New York got a ticket and a fine for riding outside of the bike lane. It doesn't tell us where he actually was riding, but when he tried to explain to the police officer who wrote him the ticket that sometimes it's not very safe to ride in the bike lane, the cop didn't listen and wrote the ticket anyway. So he made this video to demonstrate just how unsafe the bike lanes can actually be, at least in New York City. I know I've seen bike lanes that look just like that in downtown Chicago with things that block them.
His idea is to ticket the people blocking the bike lanes, rather than ticket the bikers for avoiding obstacles. What do you guys think?
