This is heavy....Do you believe that you will live to see Mideast Peace in your lifetime? Do you think there will EVER be peace over there?

With it all over the news this morning, this heavy question is just rolling around my brain, so I figured I would ask it here...with the fine, reasonable, thoughtful folks of EF.

I know the middle east has been a war zone since before recorded time. Sadly, it seems like opportunity after opportunity is lost to achieve a real peace. When Anwar Sadat and Manachim Began sat down and hammered out Peace between Egypt and Israel it was amazing. Then Jordon and Israel were no longer going at it...I really thought MAYBE...now, in the 20th century, peace is a POSSIBILITY. Now, however, I think in the 21st Century it is further then ever from possible.

What are your thoughts on this? Will there ever be peace in the middle east between all parties? Do you think you will see it in YOUR lifetime?

This a millennia old problem. Too many factions have too much invested in keeping the conflict going.

My thoughts exactly. It's far too loaded of an area. Too many people want too many different things out of it.

The conflicts in that part of the world have been happening since at least the time of Abraham, probably from the time of Adam.

I don't see Peace any time soon. Sad.

I watched Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the UN the other day. He said, or implied that he wanted the borders of Israel as they were "since the time of your Jesus, when we could worship" or something similar. Uh, does he want Roman Domination again? I get confused any time anyone from that area talks about this, as neither "side" seems to care what the other is going through.

The Bible states that in the end times there will be 7 years of peace before tribulation. So I believe that. UNcertain if I will live to see it though.

I voted other, my reason:

I can't say if there will ever be peace or not. It seems like they have been fighting with one another since the beginning of time.

It makes me think of the saying: "You can please some of the people some of the time, you can't please all the people all of the time."

I do hope that all the countries, leaders, faiths and customs do come together in peace for the benefit of man kind and let there differences just be.

Benjamin Netanyahu is a true leader. He has a country with Democratic values, one where any person walking down the street can do so freely. One where any religion can be practiced. The holy city of the 3 biggest religion's, is a free city for all 3 religion's to worship in. I feel that is a country we should be standing up for. Do I feel there will ever be peace over there, NO I do not. The day there is peace over there, is the day we should all be worried.

Out of curiosity, why do you feel we should be worried? Think they're going to have a whip around for a long range nuke?
