On this date in 2005, Stephen W. Jewell of League City, Texas received a U.S. Patent for his invention, a cordless vibrator that produces both rotary and thrusting movement “to simulate the act of copulation”. The device “can provide the user an opportunity for sexual exploration and development, alleviate fears and anxiety about sexual performance, aid in the development of one’s sensual capacities, and even facilitate verbal, emotional and sexual communication between sex partners.” link
