The "Royal" baby? Are you fascinated by this story?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
I just heard a newscaster ask a very interesting question, after reporting on the "Royal" pregnancy.

He pointed out that it is amazing "Americans" would be so enthralled by the "Royals". We fought a bloody war to get rid of this same line of "Royals" and then another to keep them out!!!! After that, we founded a nation based on the fact that no one was better, just because of which womb they fell out of. Any person in this nation could rise to whatever heights of accomplishment they could, regardless of who their parents were, or were not.

Yet the fascination continues.

Are you into their story, or do you agree that this kind of "silver spoon in mouth, thus we are better then you" mentality has got to "go"?

I think that those wars against Royal Rule have nothing to do with today, so it's no big deal to follow the Royal family.

I cannot stand that level of attention on people who did nothing but pop out of the "right" womb.

As a natural birther and someone who believes that babies are born when they are born, I'm annoyed and saddened for her that the pressure of a due date is probably stressing her out. I read a story that they had planned events around her due date because they are sure that the baby will come when they expect. The fact that there is pressure on her to keep to a timetable, or that she will be induced to keep to a schedule, makes me sad. Babies will come when they come, and those dates are simply an estimate.

I don't think I can connect wars from hundreds of years ago with current affairs of such a tabloid level, personally. I wish people would stop obsessing because stress isn't good for the baby (simply because I don't like the idea of stressing anyone like that) but other than that, I don't care much. We're not trying to become part of England in the US, I think we just like the accents LOL

I have a strong dislike for a woman who is supposed to give birth to this baby so the hype around it annoys me to death.

How can you not like Kate Middleton?

Fascinated? No. Interested. Yes. I believe in traditions and this is one of the oldest-known traditions of man-kind. Birth right used to mean something in this world, if only a sense of familial pride in where you came from. I think it's sad that people are wanting bad things to happen to her/the baby and that they feel she's somehow more open to ridicule than other celebrities whose pregnancy(ies) has been celebrated the world over.

I really don't care. I hope she has a healthy baby, as I do everyone who is having a child, but I do not really care, nor have I been following everything going on.

I don't know how can someone possibly like her. There is a reason she is called Duchess DoLittle.

Me either. I get it's a royal baby and all, but sheesh... overkill, you know?

It's interesting because it's a custom that isn't American, is what I think. I don't play into the hype but I do think it's kind of interesting.

Just another "big to do" to distract people from the real problems going on in this world! People have babies every day, even ones of royal heritage.

I don't really care; good for them, I know the baby is going to be important, one day, I'm just not too interested. Having said that, a lot of Americans actually care about the Kardashian Baby...Now THAT is appalling!

I don't either, but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I just realize people are looking for little happy distractions where-ever they can be found.

I'm not tired of the stories as much as I'm tired of one of my friends who is obsessed with them posting and talking about it 24/7. She's making me really annoyed.

...but to be honest, enough is enough. So he changes his kid's diapers... I'd be more surprised if he wasn't.

To be honest, it's not just the royal baby. I get severely annoyed by celebutantes too. Who cares who your parents are? You aren't your parents. And gaining celebrity and attention just because your mother or father or both are famous is crazy. But when it comes to the royal baby, I'm just annoyed that everything is being compared to the way Princess Diana and Prince Charles were with Will. At this point I almost wonder if all of this stuff is planned. Like they're going "Ok, so Diana wore this and Will wore that. You wear something similar and the put the baby in a similar outfit." and "Charles was slammed for this, so don't do that." Ugh, I want it all to be over with!
