We generally follow people who follow us first, but that's just because we love following people.
The Courtesy Follow
09/06/2011
I only follow people that I have an interest in either reading their forum posts, or their reviews, or stalking in general. Sometimes, if I make a friend from talking often to someone, I will follow them because I've made friends. But I don't follow people back out of courtesy. I'm glad they're interested in seeing all the stuff I post and do, but I'm just not interested in the same.

Carrie Ann- I LOVE your third option in the poll!! Clueless as to what following entails, but interested in following you just for that option!! Haha
So where do I find info on what following is all about?

I always follow people that follow me on here, it seems rude to me not to do so.
I don't usually return the "following" comments on my wall though, seems a bit pointless.

Yes I do follow back. The ones I don't follow back is my point farmer followers. It is pointless since I know they will drop me in a few days.

I do this

Yes, I do follow back.
Then, there are those few that I follow when I like the contributions they give in reviews. That is, when I remember to do it.

I follow people who tend to vote on my reviews, whose reviews I read, who I think are interesting based on stuff they've said on the forums, etc...
06/15/2012
I very rarely seek out folks to follow. Courtesy follows keep my dash alive.

I do the courtesy follow. I honestly don't know why I do it. It just feels like the right thing to do. Actually usually do the same thing on Twitter too (unless I know the page is spam).
06/15/2012
I do most of the time

Looking at my lists, I follow almost half that follow me. I don't follow people just because they follow me. I follow them because I think their contribution to my wall feed is worth seeing everyday. It would be waaaayyyyy too much stuff on the wall feed and too hard to sift through if I did courtesy follows. Plus a lot of people go inactive at times and what's the point of following inactive people? I don't get offended if someone doesn't follow me if I follow them and I hope people don't get offended if I do the same.

I typically follow those who follow me, but I wouldn't call it just courtesy.
12/25/2012
I usually follow back most who follow me but not everyone.
12/25/2012
Typically don't do the courtesy follow. Follow those that have posted review that are interest to us.

I agree I needed the sometimes no and sometimes yes option. I usually follow people back if they follow me, with the caveat that I tend not to re-follow people who aren't very active on Eden. It's funny because it is something I have thought about a bit. I prefer to follow people who are active, especially if they have taken the time to read my reviews and comment on them. So it depends.
