I have just received my latest jury duty summon, something I don't want to see. I know I will be dismissed during the selection process, as I am quite biased on certain matters, but I still dread receiving those summons, spending half the day at the court house. Do you like being a juror, or do you dread receiving the summon like I do?
That dreaded Jury Duty summon...

I've never done it. I got a letter about jury duty once when I was 18, but I didn't have to go because I was moving out of the county before then.

its a pain in the ass to get it but i think it would be fun to actually be a jurior sometime.

I seem to receive jury summonses more often than once/year but I have yet to have to come in. Right now, I'm on call as a potential US District court juror. I have to check in every Friday in February to see if I need to come in the following Monday. So far the trend of never having to come in is continuing.
I actually want to be a juror. This is like being teased.

I was supposed to have jury duty 2/14. I was juror #0001! How cool is that! BUT our house is under contract and my husband already relocated which leaves me as sole caregiver. Just like that, no questions asked, they took me off.

I've only been on a jury once, and it was for petty larceny. It was pretty interesting, and only took 1/2 a day. I'd love to sit on a jury again.

I've been summoned once and while it wasn't a horrible experience it's not something I look forward to doing again. I enjoyed going into the city, but not having to take time off of two jobs to do it.

I always just get my doctor to write me a note saying I'm too crazy to serve jury duty. So it just causes the inconvenience of having to call my doctor and get notes to the court house for me. Not something I like doing, but better than jury duty.

Never been summoned.

I have never been summoned, didn't really have to worry about it while I was in the military. I figure it will probably happen soon though.

I was summed once got out of it because I was care-giving my dying father. I have no desire to be on a jury, personally.

I've never been summoned, and I hope I never am.

I was only called when I was in college. I didn't have to go. I don't think I will ever have to do it. My father is a lawyer in my hometown and I still live here.

I have never been summoned but don't think I would mind if I was asked to serve on a jury. I might feel differently if it was a longer/higher profile trial where it would be more straining on my daily life, but something brief could actually be an interesting change from usual work.

I've received 2 summons, but because of my work, I was able to respectfully decline each one. Now that I'm retired, I haven't received any, go figure!!

Other and I love being a juror. Okay, I'm never actually "served" jury duty. I'm only 20 and have only been register to vote for about a year now. However, over Christmas break I got my first summons and I was so excited! Like, I know that's not normal, but I'm the girl that did mock trial in high school and got t set in few a few cases. I find our legal system fascinating.
The letter I got, though, was only a notice to let me that I could POSSIBLY do jury duty. I have to wait for another letter to confirm it. I'm really excited, though!!!

I've got away with a similar excuse once, but this year our court system has become stricter, can't do that anymore.

i have been summoned three times so far. the first one was right before we moved out of the county, the 2nd one I could not do because I was watching my kids while the wife was working and could not afford a babysitter. the third one came right about the time I was going to start a job out of town, and I needed to be there; as it was a small job and only needed three of us. I was trained to install the material, so my company wrote me a letter so I could get out of jury duty.
Ours is different then other places. You get called for a month. They dont tell you when you will serve, it is random. This makes it really hard to work out with my work and the jobs I am on. It also makes it hard to make sure someone is watching the kids.

That's a pain in the neck, why can't they be like everywhere else? Good thing I'm in a different county!

I have yet to get picked and people think I'm weird but I would go in place for someone if I could! I love that type of stuff and I'm just now finishing up my bachelor degree in Corrections and Social Services so it's right up my alley.

I've only had to do it once (a few years ago). It wasn't too horrible.

Neither I, nor anyone I know, has been called up for Jury Duty. I'm quite saddened by this. I'd like to be a juror, if only to see what it's like.
