Do you like sweet tea?

We take cold, sweet tea as a standard menu item anywhere in the South. I just traveled to Ohio, Wisconsin, California and New York, in a few day period and, of course, was looked at like a nut case for even asking if they had ever heard of "sweet tea" ("WE can get you a hot cup of tea with some sugar packets")!!!!

Anyway, where do YOU live and do they serve SWEET TEA (ice tea, COLD, and very, VERY sweet), in your state? When I travel, I would love to know the REAL "sweet tea" boundaries, both north/south and east/west.

SO far, I KNOW Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama are SWEET TEA EQUIPPED. What about anywhere else???

THANK YOU

I am in the North not far from the Canadian border where they know how to make good iced tea without that nasty sugar. LOL. I hate traveling in the south, so I guess we're even.

There are places that have sweetened ice tea, but you have to order it by name. Unsweetened is the standard. Now I am going to go pour myself a tall glass of iced tea. Cheers.

The closest I've found in RI is just Arizona's Sweet Tea, which isn't quite sweet enough.

Here in Kansas they don't typically serve sweet tea.

My first time I visited Virgina I ordered an "iced tea" and they brought me a "sweet tea" (I had never heard of sweet tea at this point) I was so shocked when I took my first sip that I spit it out since I had been expecting unsweetened tea. Since then I've had a strong aversion to sweet tea. Every time I've visited the south since then I am afraid to order anything other than water because I'm afraid of what other drink surprises they might have for me.

No, I drink my teas in their original flavors - except iced lemon tea.

We don't have to worry about this in Georgia.

If you get flavored (like raspberry or peach tea), it typically has sugar in it, but normally here regular iced tea is not pre-sweetened if you order it at a restaurant. You can get the instant tea in a can with sugar, though, pretty easily.

NC & VA also generally have sweet tea, but it depends on which parts of the states you visit (ex northern Va may not, and the outerbanks of NC often doesn't), but you can generally add them to your list.

Sweet tea is the ONLY tea for me, (the more sugar, the better!). While I generally prefer it homemade, our leading supermarket here in the south (Publix) makes the BEST sweet tea, hands down!

Not much of a fan of the sweet tea I've had; I prefer standard brewed tea or iced sun tea. If I get a chance to visit the South and taste an authentic version, maybe I'll become a fan.

Californian here and I love sweet tea! I love iced tea in all its forms but there's nothing like a good sweet tea.
I should've been born a Southerner.
