I've never had surgery, but I will be within the next month. Nervous about it, actually.
Surgery?

I've had my wisdom teeth removed, as well as some jaw surgery and a bone graft which was excruciating.

I've had major surgery twice for the same thing. I had a lipoma that wrapped around and tugged my spinal cord. I wouldn't be able to walk, had I not had surgery the first time at about 2 years old. The second time was actually in March of this year, and it had grown back and was making it hard to live my life. I couldn't walk or stand for more then ten minutes at a time (and I have to walk everywhere), so I had the surgery again. I'm lucky I have insurance =T

I've had my tonsils, my adnoids, my appendix, and an ovary removed. Certainly not all surgeries turn out the same, but I happily lived through all of mine.

Have you ever had surgery of any type? A friend is going in today for minor surgery, and I find myself a little overly worried I suppose. But it made me wonder how many people here have dealt with a surgery.
I hope your friend is just fine. Try not to stress yourself out too much.

I've had a couple on my genital area.

Tonsils and adnoids, and wisdom teeth.

Altogether I have had 6 surgeries. 4 being major, 2 being minor.

I'm up to 7.
6 eye surgeries and wisdom teeth removal. hoping to NOT add a c-section to that list next year.

I've had a close call with my ankle before...I sprained it 3 times in a week... and somehow dented the bone o.o

I just had my gallbladder removed two days ago. I went into the ER at 5am, had surgery at 11am and was home by 3pm. The pain after surgery hasn't been bad at all. The only troubles I'm having is sitting up and standing up a bit, but once I'm up I'm fine. No foods have bothered me yet either. Honestly, the gallbladder attacks were worse than post-surgery and I have hardly taken any of the pain meds I was given.
I also had my wisdom teeth out 8 months ago, and that wasn't as bad as everyone describes it either. 4 years ago I got stitches in my hand as well after a car accident.

I've never had surgery before.

I have been lucky and never gone under the knife.
01/15/2012
never had any surgery. the older i get, the more it scares me.
01/15/2012
Nope never had surgery. I've escaped it somehow!
01/15/2012
Wisdom teeth, tonsils, dead tissue in my throat and sinus... The last 3 were all due to some crazy reoccurring tonsil infection i got.

Never had surgery before, and I never want to. I'm scared to death of it, due to a distrust of the medical community for numerous personal reasons.

I had tubes removed from my ears when I was a kid.

I've never had any work major enough to actually consider it "surgery" in the typical sense of the word.

I had emergency surgery to set my severely broken leg and insert a metal rod and screws after I was hit by a car. A couple months after that, I had to have 3 tendons reattached in my right hand Awful. I hate it. Hate all that medical shit, never want to do it again. I wasn't at all aware of the leg surgery since I have no memory of being hit and it happened right after, but the hand surgery was hard. The procedure went fine and all, but it was SO damn stressful!

back 3 times hip one time and knee

Yes, I've had a few surgeries before.

I had my 25th surgery this passed summer. Most have been orthopedic. All were general anesthetic. Hoping to never have to have another.

I had tubes put in my ear (1)
I had my tonsils removed (2)
I had my adenoids removed (3)
Wisdom teeth removed (4) - not sure if this counts
*Apparently when I had my tonsils out they should have taken my adenoids out too, but instead they were taken out about 15 years apart

I've now had three surgeries where my body was cut into. One was major and two were minor. Although the vasectomy was considered minor, it was the worst one as far as recovery.
