Stress free work enviroment

Contributor: Rod Ronald Rod Ronald
IO've been talking a lot about work lately on EF...I know. However hectic it is at my new job I have noticed a huge change in my mood since I switched jobs, I'm actually...dare I say happy! I'm not stressed really. I go to work not freaking out over if this is the day my Boss loses it again. I don't go home bitching about how much I hate it there, nothing. I'm actually really calm and happy.
I was wondering how your job is? Is it stressful? Do you wish you could quit? Or are you happy to be where you are?

I don't work. When I did I had a high stress job that resulted in me having a nervous breakdown, thus why I no longer work. I don't think I've ever had a job that didn't stress me out, even the lower stress ones.

I said stressful, but its only stressful part of the time. I wish I could quit for other reasons. I can play on EF here, which is one small perk and I am a very short commute. Other than that..I'm ready to move on.

Congratulations, Rod. Finding that job that doesn't make you want to set the place or boss on fire is one in a million.

My last job was working at the most dysfunctional diner in existence. Everyone at that place talked of burning it down or doing something horrible to the owner (the source of all the stress). The local public mental health clinic had an entire file drawer devoted to employees (both current and ex) who've had breakdowns.

Right now I don't really work, I'm a full time grad student. But my last job I was fairly happy with. It was the stupid people that made me not like it some days.

Working seasonally, ending very soon, then back to school. Otherwise would have walked out already.

I work as a server at a fairly popular chain restaurant that shall not be named. I hate it, and I an actively looking for a new job so I can be done with that place forever. It's very high stress, and sometimes very low reward. While most of the customers that come in to eat are wonderful, it is very rare for a shift to go by without someone coming in who delights in taking out their daily frustrations on their server or run me to death and don't bother to tip. And half the time I end up doing all my work then picking up the slack of my lazy coworkers. All while the managers act like assholes, and give more hours to the lazy "favorites" who can't do their job and leave me and some of the other better workers with a few days a week. I've been there four years and I can't wait to get out of there.

I'm a server as well and I'm stressed, though not for the same reasons. The restaurant I work in is a mom and pop, and I'm grateful that our clientele is generally better than most, and I am the only one who works 5 days a week-every night we're open. HOWEVER, some of my co-workers are assholes. And I mean that in the nicest way. Ha. If not for them, I would love everything about my job.

I said stressful, but it's stressful in that it's dull most of the time. I can literally feel like I'm about to fall asleep on my feet sometimes. It's temporary though, so I try to not let it get to me.

pretty much the same here. wasn't all the job, but working made everything worse for me. when i was working my heart rate ran 100-150. now i stay under 100 most of the time.

Heh. They never made it to court - the owner has too much money. I was never able to put in my parting shot when I left (ironically, due to a nervous breakdown) ... "Hey, C, is it true that your relatives stand in your doorway at night and ask 'Are you dead yet?'"

Here's to finding a better work environment when I get my degree, ne?

Well right now I'm a full time student and it's harder than people think. I am taking an overload of classes, and I am literally busy from 6am to 11pm. It's hard but totally worth it

I've started a new job as an insurance agent, and I absolutely HATE it. Our boss expects us to eat, sleep and breathe insurance sales. She's up at all hours of the night, sending out emails/memos, and she gets mad if you don't reply within an hour.
The job is commissioned, and I spend hours on the phone every day trying to get clients. It's just miserable.
