Strange food combos

Contributor: eri86 eri86
Even though I was positive I wouldn't like it, in order to humor a friend who swore it was delicous, I tried eating a chocolate chip cookie paired with cheddar cheese.

I was right, I hated it. Yuck.

And today, another guy friend told me about his 'Peanut butter, pepper jack cheese, ham and roast beef, strawberry' sandwich.

So many things wrong with that...

Still what's the weirdest food combo you've ever tried/eaten? Was it as bad as you though, or did you find you liked it?

My child ordered a 2-scoop ice cream cone today with chocolate chip mint and 3-flavor sherbet, I thought that was kind of strange but he liked it.

One time I tried cheese and jelly crackers. After all, I eat both items separately on crackers...why wouldn't I just eat them together? The taste was decent, but the texture was AWFUL.

Kids seem to think things are delicious just as long as there is as much sugar as possible. Back in late elementary school, we each were assigned kindergarten buddies. One of the activities that we did with our buddies was making pizza. Sharing the pepperoni, chocolate chip, and gummy bear pizza that my buddy designed was one of most unpleasant moments of my eating career.

My grandfather eats peanut butter and butter sandwiches. Umm, yuck! Growing up in a low income family we kind of had to do what we could with what we had. We would eat crackers and milk because it was cheaper than cereal. My mother would make this weird gravy stuff from pretty much just ground beef and a flour paste and it would get poured over toast. In the summertime we would have cucumber and mayo sandwiches because we had a garden and there was always lots of cucumbers. My mom also enjoyed peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. My ex husband liked to put cheese on his hotdogs and would eat beans mixed with mayo. Some things I will never understand. Right now, there aren't really any 'odd' things I like to eat.

I dip chicken nuggets and french fries in my Frosty when I go to Wendy's, but that's about it.
SO will eat shredded cheese with anything, though.
Pasta? Cheese.
Apple pie? Cheese.
Macaroni and cheese? Better put some more cheese on that.

That you actually tried to eat that pizza tells me a lot about you! What a nice person you were, trying not to hurt the little kid's feelings! And how revolting that combo is, I can't imagine much worse than that!

I love shredded cheese on my cheese dishes, too! If I don't like something, I try to salvage it with cheese on top and it usually works!

BTW, your quote, "So open-minded that it's hard to keep my brain in." is hilarious!

My great uncle would drink milk mixed with pickle juice, so I tried it once and it is just as gross as it sounds.

I made a bagel sandwich with turkey, strawberry cream cheese, havarti cheese and a plain bagel. It was delicious! I was trying to re-create a post-thanksgiving sandwhich and it was as close as I could get.

A peanut butter and pickle sandwich sounds odd, but is actually quite good!

I put exactly a dime sized dot of ketchup in the middle of my mashed potatoes always, and smudge a bit onto the tip of the spoon an nom away. It's not gross, it's like ketchup and French fries!
