First I try to pull over and take a nap at a rest stop if I can. Otherwise I'll sing along loudly with whatever I have playing, or I also find that things like comedy CD's, talk radio, books on tape, things like that help a lot. For me they give my mind something to focus on and that helps to keep me awake.

McDonald's iced coffee - that kept me awake for my six day road trip between Montana and Florida (although it did nothing for the car catching fire in Georgia).
And bring along someone else to drive so you can take breaks. My father and I do this. DON'T bring along someone who falls asleep easily (like my ex-husband who slept the whole six days of the road trip) - they're no help.

I have a lot of experience with long drives. I went to college 14 hours away and I took my car with me so I had to drive there and back. The thing that worked best for me is always having something in my mouth: lollipops, gum, lifesavers, ice, etc. Whenever I felt myself starting to get tired I would chew/suck on something to stay awake. I have no idea if it would work for someone else, but it was my most successful technique.

Gum and singing along to songs every now and then on the trip. If you sing too often, though, your mouth can get a bit tired...

He,he, I'm the passenger who always fall asleep - even on 30 minutes drives.

So, when I do solo-driving that takes up over an hour, I have to munch on lots of beef jerky nuggets. I also drink McDonald's frozen strawberry lemonade, those brain freezes do wonders in keeping me awake!

I sing and drink caffeine. I hardly ever drink it on a day to day basis so any caffeine usually works for me

i had this problem once when driving back to school. for about the last 2 hrs of my drive to school, there's nowhere to stop off to buy something w/ caffine. it was cold out, so i rolled down my windows, turned my music up, & would bounce around a little every now & then to get my blood flowing.

Listen to catchy music.

Turn on the air and point it at my face to keep me alert.

I do not get tired while driving very often. But when I do, I will roll down the window and let the cold air keep me awake. Or drink a monster or red bull. Put on some loud music also works well.

Alternate between Amp and Full Throttle. Point the A/C directly at my face, not because I want it cold, but because air blowing on my face annoys me. Loud music...louder than usual music.

I'll drink either coffee or maybe a soda if coffee isn't available and listen to upbeat songs that I know all the words to, so I can sing along even if it's just in my head. Also, being a smoker, I find that smoking does relax me but keeps me awake.

If it's chilly out roll down all the windows if you can, and put on some bouncy (or annoying, if that'll help) music. If all else fails try coffee or something like No-Doz (caffeine pills).
I don't drive myself yet but this all helped my mom stay awake when she was on 3rd shift a while back.

Turn up the music. Get an energy drink. Roll the window down.
