How often do you start up conversations with the people around you?

Particularly in situations where you're probably never going to see them again.

Like when you're commuting, traveling, or just happen to be waiting in same line?

And if you do it a lot, have any of those random conversations ever become friendships or relationships?

It depends on the situation. I will when traveling; it makes things go by faster. I also do when a group of people are stuck in a crappy situation (delayed airplane taxiing, hot as heck train, etc).

It depends on the situation. A easy conversation usually started by clothes or my kids on their part.

No, not usually. I'm pretty shy.

If it's somewhere where it's clear we'll have a common interest, I'll strike up a conversation. Otherwise, I'll respond, but won't necessarily start
