Have you had dogs that are working dogs (not pets)? Were they/ are they allowed in your house or is there a clear delineation of where they are allowed to go? Have you kenneled your dogs?

I used to have a black lab which was a duck retriever. She was also an indoor dog most of the time.

When I lived on a working ranch, we had cow dogs for herding the cows from one area to another. Horses are wonderful but the dogs were amazing!!! They were in the house as well.
