I usually prefer dark sodas, cola or root beer. Never did acquire a taste for diet drinks. I also really like the Izze sparkling fruit sodas. I get them by the case at Costco.

When I'm the one buying I usually pick up coke and dr.pepper, but i'm really not to picky. It's all sweet and delicious so i'll drink anything. I am picky about HOW it comes though. I don't know why, but I think it tastes so much better out of a can than a bottle.
We are native Georgians, so it has to be Coke for us.
Interesting, is Coke very popular in Georgia? I always heard that Dr. Pepper was very big in the south. I am from PA - I haven't really noticed a preference for one over the other here. (Although when it comes to beer, everyone here drinks Yuengling)
My tastes fluctuate every 6-12 months. I drink both Coke & Pepsi. I prefer, glass bottles, then cans, the plastic. As far as generic soda goes, I will drink any root beer, grape, or ginger ale. My current favorite are Fresca, and the Glass Bottle Boylan Root Beer (made from cane sugar).

Coca-cola is bottled in Atlanta, so yes it's very very popular. Very few places carry Pepsi products and if they do, it's usually because they originated up north. KFC and Taco Bell carry pepsi, but McDonald's and everyone else carries Coke.
The World of Coca-cola is here (in Georgia)! I'm also a native.

Grew up on Pepsi, but I prefer Coke now. Gotta have full the bad stuff, no diet for me, which seems just as bad with all that artificial stuff. I'll take real sugar and a large popcorn with that! (I binge at movies).

Gary, Coke was invented in Atlanta. The Coca Cola company is a huge contributor to education, charities and economic development throughout the state. Coke basically owns the state. Almost anyone who is a native southerner is a strong Coke supporter. Now, I like Dr. Pepper (and Yuengling) but if I am drinking a soft drink anywhere out in public I am ordering a Coke product. If the restaurant asks if Pepsi is ok we always say "no" and get iced tea instead.
I'm really not too picky on my sodas. I drink both Coke and Pepsi and pretty much all of their other products. The only thing I won't drink is diet soda. I don't like the taste of it.

Hey Sapphire Storm, glad to see another native Georgian on here! We are both native Atlantans. @Gary, if you are interested, the Coke story is a fascinating one. A guy named John Pemberton worked in a pharmacy in Atlanta and came up with a concoction to help cure headaches and other ills. (Yes, it originally had cocaine extract in it, this a long time ago.) His concoction took off, and the "recipe" was locked up. It remains a very tightly held secret to this day what exactly is in Coke, and the original recipe is still kept locked up in. Here is an interesting article from Snopes about the secrecy. link
Do you have actual diet Pepsi there in US, or is it the same here .... Pepsi Max?
Just wondering cause would have thought it would have been written Pepsi Max instead of diet.
Dr. Pepper, Diet Mt. Dew, Cream Soda, Root Beer are my favorites. I don't mind some diets, others I do. Can't stand Coke though, leaves my mouth dried out.
I no longer drink soda and it's been almost a year since I've partaken in it on a regular basis. The only times I drink it now is only if it's a light colored, caffeine free and it's for the purpose of diluting an alcoholic mixed drink. So that's very rare.
Before I gave it up I adored Dr. Pepper lol. It made it tough to give it up but I no longer miss it.
I don't drink much soda. When I do it's Diet Pepsi. Not because I like it more than Diet Coke..just because Diet Pepsi is always a better price and on sale. lol. I don't have a brand preference.
