So What Fandom(s) Are You In?

Contributor: Andromeda Andromeda
Let's just get this out on the table right now-- we're all a little nerdy at heart. Some of us fully embrace this fact about ourselves, and others try to deny it. But fact of the matter is, we all geek out over one franchise or another, even if said movie/book/tv show isn't considered geeky. So let's say it loud and proud!

I am a member of the following fandoms:

Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter (Recovering addict)
Firefly
Battlestar Galactica

And those are just the big ones for me. :p

Yay! A fandom thread!

Let's see here....

I'm also a fan of LotR, Harry Potter, and Firefly...

Also:

Dollhouse

V

Glee (sorta kinda. terrible writing, but it's fun to watch.)

Sailor Moon (if I have any daughters, I will make them watch at least the first two seasons. if I have any sons, they won't be treated any differently * cackles *)

House, M.D.

His Dark Materials

...and some other stuff I'm too hungry to remember right now. But that means that those are the important ones, right? right??!

Stargate
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Legend of the Seeker
Supernatural

What? No other Who-vians?

Old School Doctor Who (20th century portrayals)
Red Dwarf
Are You Being Served? (and its sequel Grace and Favour)
Keeping Up Appearances

(Yes, they're all British.)

Past also included Project A-Ko, Harry Potter, The Big O (not what you think it is), Ranma 1/2, Gunsmith Cats, Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and just about every 1980's cartoon.

I'v rediscovered a love for The Real Ghostbusters recently when I acquired the complete set of the series. Egon/Janine 4-EVA!

I'm another British TV geek. Blame my husband for the influence. We have a vast DVD collection of dramas and comedies since we don't get BBC America. My faves include Coupling, Father Ted, Men Behaving Badly, The High Life, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Blackadder, The Fast Show, and The Royle Family.

As far as real TV, I mostly watch PBS now. I love Pawn Stars, Jockeys, Good Eats, and Cake Boss, but the cable company recently took TLC, History, Food Network, and Animal Planet out of our service so I guess I'll have to watch those shows online now.

For some reason, I have yet to get into Harry Potter or the vampire books. I might love them, I just haven't had the chance to read them yet.

The reason I got caught up in the Harry Potter craze is I was a kid when the books came out. My grandma bought me every single one because she knows I love to read. ^_^

Same here!

Then in 8th grade I switched schools and Harry Potter was how I made new friends, lol. We bonded over our mutual love, wrote fan fiction, the whole deal. I consider myself a recovering addict because while the series still has many fond memories for me, I'm no longer obsessed. That said, I still have Slytherin pride

I wanted to love Big O but I couldn't get over the fact that any time I heard Roger speak the image of Spike Spiegel would pop into my head.

As for my own fandoms..

Live Action:
Firefly
Red Dwarf
Good Eats

Animation:
Vision of Escaflowne
Gurren Lagann
Hellsing
Batman: TAS

I'm sure there's many MANY more but I'll spare you all >.>

AHH! Gurren Lagann! I loved that show! Also, Code Geass, which I watched right afterward. Both had semi-surprising, sad endings, which I find is typically the mark of a good show.

Oh god, yes. Serenity is a tear jerker, especially if you're a long time Browncoat like me and Black Fox.

Without thinking too deeply here, I would have to say...

Early Universal Horror 30's & 40's
Horror Movies (Mostly Late 70's and 80's)
Chikara Pro Wrestling
Star Wars IV, V, VI
Zatoichi
8-bit NES
Old BC Rich Guitars
Razorback Records
anything Hank Williams related (I really like Hank Jr. too, but not Hank III)

When I was 19, I had this overnight maintenance job where I would get home at 5:00am everyday. I had a crappy TV that only got a few UHF stations. So the only thing on for the first hour I was home was Sailor Moon. So I would get home from work each day, drink a few beers, and watch Sailor Moon until I fell asleep.

I went to school with Hank III. Only back then he was called Shelton. Please pardon my shameless and useless name drop there.

Oh man. I remember when I was, what, 7? 8? And I was so desperate to watch Sailor Moon that even though we programed the VCR to record it, I would wake up like clockwork at 5AM to watch it anyway. And then I'd watch the recording the next morning over breakfast. And again when I got back from school in the afternoon.

As for Serenity... I would've cried the first time I saw it if my best friend hadn't been crushing my arm every time something terrifying/scary/sad happened.

Oh! Also? Totally geek out over Dr. Horrible.

YES

I quote Dr. Horrible in my regular day-to-day conversations. Also, I wish I was biffles with Neil Patrick Harris.

And another...

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the books).

Thanks pretty cool!

I don't dislike Hank III, but Hank Williams is my all time favorite, and if you know much about Hank Jr's life he is just amazing (even if you don't like his music)! Although I do give Hank III credit for being pretty open about using the name to make more money. It would seem kind of messed up if he tried to play it off like he wasn't. I do REALLY like that first album he put out on Curb in the late 90's Risin' Outlaw... although he has mentioned not liking that one. Oh well.
