I'm curious as to whether this is a generational thing, a macho thing or not important. For the purpose of this poll straight/gay/bi/trans is not relevant
So I am 35 years old and I have a question....males: do you prefer to be called a MAN or a GUY? females: do you prefer to refer to your males as MEN or GUYS?

It doesn't really matter.... I call everyone "guy", so...

I could care less, just don't call me sir or late for dinner.

My Master isn't just a guy, He is a REAL MAN!!!
I call Him "Guy" veryvery rarely, when the context needs it (like "He is the TechieGuy", and similar ways, only if needed... ), but other than that I don't find it proper enough to use such a word for Him... ^^

My husband is a MAN

When I talk about him and his friends, I call them they guys but normally I call him my hubby or my man.

Oops, forgot to check the age box, I'm forty-eight. Does it really matter which one to use?

I use guy just because I'm younger and my partners tend to be close to my age. I feel like "man" is kind of putting some pressure on them to be mature and manly, so I feel awkward using it. If I'm not sure what they'll prefer I just say "partner" or "boo" lol

I am a female under age 20, and I use the terms interchangeably!
05/14/2012
I'm 24 and usually call men of any age "boy" actually. And I call girls "broads" most of the time. Both terms have offended but I consider those people a little hyper-sensitive.

I'm a 27 year old female and like to use the term 'guy.'

I don't care either way.
05/14/2012
I use "guy" just out of habit.
05/14/2012
it really depends on the conversation

I call my fiance both, my man and my guy. Neither one has any difference to me in this sense and it is just whatever comes to mind first when I'm talking.
05/14/2012
Either one.
05/14/2012
I'm female and I usually call him my man
05/14/2012
I usually use "man" but I wouldn't mind saying guy either.
05/14/2012
Men are mature, guys aren't - doesn't matter the age.

My husband is a man, everyone else is just a guy. And it's pretty much solely based on chilipepper's reasoning above.
05/14/2012
I call everyone a guy, I'm not married but if I were I'd call HIM a man or just DADDY. I'm 39 and if I'm talking to or about someone younger than me wither their guys or girls, then I call them kids. Unless they are military personel then they are men and women.

I'm 30 and I call him my husband. If I'm talking about a specific friend, I say my male friend or my lady friend. I don't call anyone men-women, guy-gal.
05/14/2012
My girl calls me "man" but I have to preference.
05/14/2012
I don't care what people call me, in reference to labeling my manhood. My partner likes to call me a man, but usually attributes that to qualities that differentiate me from other males in her mind, I don't care so much.
05/14/2012
I don't have much of a preference to being called a man or a guy.
05/14/2012
Depends on the person. I tend to call everyone "you guys", and not really use it to refer to people specifically of the male gender or masculine presentation. I usually call them "men" as a whole.
05/14/2012
I prefer man.
05/14/2012
My man is a man, but if I'm referring to a group of men I usually call them guys. Plus, Man's Night sounds funny to me, where as guys night rolls off the tongue easier. Btw, I'm 20.
