Sleeping with a fan on?

Contributor: Rod Ronald Rod Ronald
I always have to sleep with my fan on, no matter what season it may be. The sound is what helps me sleep.

I know SO many people that do this, my best friend, an ex, my sister, her bf, their two kids, etc. I like quiet to sleep

I'm about 50/50. Depends on the temperature in my room, really.

I can't stand the cold, but my husband is always hot and requires the fan on to go to sleep. Now if I go to bed before him, 9 times out of 10 I'll put it on out of habit.

Yep, we're the same way. I have to have the radio on low volume and the fan going in order to fall asleep.

I can't stand fans at all! However, my hubby needs one. So, I am still trying to get use to it. I can't stand the way the air feels blowing on me. I know it's weird.

I sleep with my fan on pretty much 9 months out of the year. I'm not attached to the noise or anything I just like it to be cold when I sleep. Once winter rolls around I don't really use it.

I love my fan. My husband doesn't like the cold, but he likes the noise it makes. There is just something so soothing about a fan going. I have slept with a fan for as long as I can remember.

Other - I'll have a fan on if it's hot out, or our little space heater (which also has a fan) on if it's cold, because I want the temperature to be comfortable. I *hate* the sound of both, and find it distracting when I'm trying to fall asleep. I'd rather be annoyed by noise than be an uncomfortable temperature though.

I need air circulating in the room, it's usually hot at bedtime, and the noise helps in muffling the rest of the household (which is as sound-proof as a tent). My ex-husband couldn't stand it, so he snored as loudly as he could all night.

I like the circulation, my apt gets none. So I usually keep the fan on year round and snuggle down under blankets.

Love it in the summer, but never in the winter. My partner has had a hard time sleeping with the fan on, but she has gotten use to it over time.

We only run the fan to cool the room on warm summer nights, and we don't need any white noise to help us fall asleep.

I don't need a fan running to be able to fall asleep. Though after running my ceiling fan all summer then shutting it off when it gets cooler, it does take me longer to fall asleep until I get used to it being silent without the fan, or from hearing other noises (like a snoring dog) that I didn't hear when the fan was running.

the only time i need a fan going all night to fall asleep is on those horrible summer nights but other then that, no thank you, got to watch out for my electricity bill.

I have a ceiling fan and I use it at night because my baby gets stuffy at night. Plus being upstairs it gets so hot. Even with the heat on so need something to circulate. If not the fan I use a humidifier because of the dry air.

The sound helps but I also need the air circulation. I generate too much heat when I sleep

I had to get used to it. Can't have it on past low, though, because my hair starts tickling my face.
