Do any of you have any type of skincare routine? I've tried to come up with my own to calm down my acne and blackheads. I use a variety of different products and use a "mask" every other night before bed. What products do you use to help keep your acne at bay?
What's your Skin Care Routine?

I wash, tone, and moisturize using an organic aloe-based formula twice a day. Then 2x/week I use a raw honey mask. Basically, I rub some raw honey on my cheeks (the only part of my face with a bit of acne) and leave it for an hour, then rise off with warm water. Honey has natural antibiotic properties, so it keeps the skin clear of pathogenic bacteria. Honestly, diet has made more of an impact on my skin than anything, though. I'm convinced that gut dysbiosis (overgrowth of 'bad' bacteria and yeasts in proportion to the good guys) is a major cause of health problems and bad skin. I think that because when I eat probiotic foods and/or take probiotics in pill form, my acne starts fading away. When I don't-or if I eat sugar and refined foods-it comes back with a vengeance. I have had my hormones tested and they are great, so it's not hormonal. I wish more doctors would educate their patients about the gut--but the medical system is not set up for much prevention/holistic care, unfortunately.

I use Paula's Choice products and they work really well for me. The BHA exfoliants are awesome! I actually haven't had any pimples in over a month now, which is a big deal for me since I've struggled with acne for over 10 years and used to always have at least one on my face.

This is still a big area of research, actually. The exact influence of diet/gut microflora is still under a lot of scrutiny.

Does the honey mask work? I'm trying to find brands or products for exfoliation.

It seems to work. Then again I started doing a lot of different things (probiotics, juicing, cutting out a LOT of carbs) at the same time, so it's hard to tell what changes help more than others.

I scrub off my makeup with just water in the shower then I scrub my face with cotton & 50% rubbing alcohol till the there is nothing left on the cotton. Most people freak when they see me do this, but I never have acne or dry skin.

I wash my face before bed and apply a night cream. That's about it. As for acne, I use benzoyl peroxide.
