shaving down below

Not long ago i brought up the idea for my wife to shave her "downstairs" and she is definitely interested and willing, but she is a little bit, well, i dont want to say scared, but she has her concerns about using sharp metal on such a sensitive area. Any tips for first timers?

Splurge for a personal hair trimmer. They shave close and leave you very smooth without nicking you to bits. We have one like this but I'm sure there are cheaper ones that work just as well.

I recently purchased a Palm Perfect from Kroger and while I'm still getting the hang of how to use it, I haven't maimed myself yet (knock on wood). It also depends on how close of a shave she wants, if she wants to go "all bare" or leave a landing strip, etc.

I started off shaving and it worked fine, not cuts. The thing is you get razor rash and bumps. Then I started using my hubbies mustache trimmer attachment every day and it works great. No bumps and rash. kynky Kytty recommended this personal shavor in past post. You might want to have a look. link

if she's nervous, maybe suggest she start out just trimming things up a bit with an ordinary pair of scissors? that's how i started, and you can still remove a good amount of hair with them.

other than that, go SLOWLY and carefully, and shave with the hair flow rather than against it.

Waxing at a salon is pretty expensive but is the faster, less messy way to do it. There are some de-sensitizing lotions that she can use before hand if she is worried about the pain. The pain from waxing seems to vary from person to person. It is generally bareable but pretty uncomfortable. Surprising thing is that it is the area at the top of the pubis that is the most sensitive to waxing generally, not the labia. Waxing leaves her nice and smooth for quite a while, though which is nice.

I have had a full brazillian wax before and yes, it hurt a little, but it was a comparable hurt to a large bandaid being ripped off rather than a lingering, aching hurt. The sting and sensitivity afterwards--which only lasted an hour at most--were definitely worth the feeling of being smooth and bump-free for a few weeks. I took a few painkillers about 30 minutes before my waxing appointment, so that may have helped. However, I don't think this is necessary unless you are very sensitive to pain or have never been waxed before and therefore don't know what to expect.

However, in the case of your wife, I would definitely suggest that she take some trimmers or scissors and clean up a bit before attempting to wax or shave. Always use a clean razor, the newer the better, and shave in the direction of the hair growth--not against it. Remember, she doesn't have to shave it all off at the first try.

Good luck!

When I first started shaving, I trimmed it pretty close before I started any actual shaving. I used to get razor bumps, but if you put a little bacitracin (a thin layer) where you shave, then you don't get bumps. Works for me, anyway. Good luck to her! =^.^=
