It sounds like an input error between your keyboard and word processor program. I agree with SincerelyN that is could be a virus, but let's first deal with the simple stuff.
Go to your Programs and then Accessories. Under System Tools find DISC CLEANUP and run it. Once done, go to DEFRAG in the same place and run it (that may take a while). Once you have done both of those, either update and run your antivirus, and if you don't have one, get one pronto. Even a free one like AVG can give you a lot of great coverage. Make sure to run that program. Hopefully those three actions should restore your device to a more normal "typing" experience.

I don't mean to step on your toes, but I bet the problem could be solved by simply unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in once it's rebooted.
The only reason anyone should ever run a defrag is if they are about to backup their hard drive. It's essentially useless otherwise. All it does is sort the files and clean up disc space. That rarely, if ever, affects anything software related. A messy and disjointed hard drive only slows down a search function for Windows Explorer.
(Defragging is about efficiency, not troubleshooting.)
