I'm watching Dead Silence on the SyFy channel and I think it might seriously be the scariest movie I've ever seen. Of course I find ventriloquist's dummies the creepiest damn things ever though.. lol. What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?

The Eye, but not the American version but the foreign one by the Pang Brothers. I don't know what it is but the Asian film makers really know how to do horror, I only wish we could get them in English instead of subtitled. It's so hard trying to do two things at once when watching a movie. But I have seen a TON of scary movies and this one left me feeling scared to walk into a dark room for awhile.
And this is so childish, but there is just something unnerving to me, even as an adult about Candy Man.
I'd love to find one that got me like The Eye did. I LOVE horror and getting scared but it's so hard to scare me anymore. I have found myself disturbed, but not scared since The Eye.

The Thing, from the 70's I believe with Kurt Russell in it, or Black Christmas from around the same time, possibly earlier. The only other one that comes to mind is Evil Dead. Oh damn, almost forgot Hellraiser 1 and 2 and Amityville 1 and 2.
P.S. Dead Silence is also incredible

I love The Eye, but for some reason it never felt like a horror to me. I was more sad than scared.

I agree with Peaches. I actually have this huge fear of zombies. I have vivid senarios play out in my head that keep me from going out at night or enjoy being home alone. I woke up this morning to sirens and thought "Oh sh!t! It has happened and the husband is at work!" And that's how I react to completely fiction movies. I am horrible for months after watching a movie about things that really could happen!

Probably The Exorcist. I had my rosary in my purse. (Talk about a Cafeteria Catholic! LOL!) I was terrified.
I made the mistake of watching it once on TV while I was home alone with a small baby. (The baby was sleeping.) I turned on all the lights and sat on the edge of couch, jumping to every sound until My Man came home that evening! When I told him why I had a Death Grip on him he was like, "What the hell's wrong with you? I wouldn't watch that movie alone, Woman!"

I'm sure someone's going to laugh at me over this, but the only movie that not only scared me completely shitless the first time I saw it but remains creepy to me years later is The Blair Witch Project. Say what you will, the fear of being lost, starving, and stalked by something that always stays just out of sight gets me every time.

Besides that, Antichrist and Inland Empire. Both were quite creepy. I don't watch very many horror films and when I do I prefer the campy ones.

Grotesque, hands down. It is in Japanese with subtitles, but it is a really bloody movie. It was one of the few movies banned in certain countries because of the "psychological damage" left to movie go'ers.
We thought it was pretty cool.
