I would prefer all multiple choice private polls as long as it is constructed in a relatively appropriate format. It allows people to explain themselves further even if they change their minds.

Well, public is something I don't mind. I don't care to publicly vote my name on anything at all, no matter the question. However, I often make my polls private because I want everyone to be totally comfortable posting.

Some poll topics need to be answered privately, or no one is going to participate in your poll and some don't matter, I suspect that is why Eden has that feature in their poll building software.
