Desperately looking for a new razor. I shave my legs regularly, and my bikini line ALWAYS gets super irritated--red bumps galore. Any suggestions for razors for sensitive skin? And yes, I already use good shave gels. I really think I just need a better razor. What works for you?

My wife likes my Gillette Fusion - but uses the ladies Venus razors because they are less expensive.

I use the Venus Spa Breeze because it comes with extra moisturizer!

At this point, I'm less worried about price. I just really want to find something that works well for me.

I use the venus plus I use a shave cream from a competitor I'm sure I'm not allowed to post it. Because even with the venus alone I still get irritated and I've tried other products and that is the only one that worked. I'm very sensitive.

I never use razors designed for women, I use Schick for Men razors. The Titanium Quattro.
We bought both the Women's Schick Quattro and the Men's Schick Quattro razor packages with the handle and the blade. I kept my handle and ditched the blades for the women's version because I hated the blades but loved the handle (it's lighter than the one for men and has more rubber grips on the handle).
My skin is never irritated and I very rarely nick my knees. I also use regular, unscented, dye-free hair conditioner (Suave) as shaving cream. It's thicker, stays in place and you can see the skin better and inexpensive.
Shaving creams/gels have alcohol in them and that might be the true cause of the irritation plus the dyes and perfumes can be irritating to freshly shaved skin. Try using conditioner and let it sit on the area you wish to shave for a few minutes before you begin and see if you notice a difference afterwards.

I don't buy name brand razors. In fact, I've used disposable ones for as long as I remember! I keep two different ones, one for shaving my legs and one for shaving my bikini. I NEVER use them interchangeably.

When shaving you bikini I suggest taking a hot bath or shower and waiting until your hair is extra soft, and then using a sharp razor in short strokes to shave. Use a lot of shaving gel and after you're finished, rinse with cold water. If that doesn't work for you try some OTC hydrocortisone cream where you're having the irritation.

Could you send me a private message about the shave cream? You've got me curious.

That's so interesting that they have alcohol in them! That would definitely explain the irritation and dryness.

Do you have a lotion or aftershave that you use too, or do you just dry off and head out for the day? I tried using a lotion, but I found that it sometimes made things worse because it would clog my pores and I'd end up with in grown hairs.

Why do you avoid using the same razor for your legs and bikini? I understand not sharing a razor with another person, but I don't get why you wouldn't just use one razor for yourself.

I think it would be to keep the razor for your bikini area at its sharpest and not dull it out "prematurely" by also shaving your legs with it.

As for me, I don't usually end up using anything on my legs to shave, although I use body wash occasionally and I use the Shick Hydro with wonderful results. For shaving my bikini line and vagina, I use a cream like Coochy.

Exactly! Shaving with dull blades in the bikini area can also pull on the hairs and irritate your skin, which contributes to the bumps
