Proprane or electric heat?

Contributor: Rod Ronald Rod Ronald
I'm trying to prove a point in a way that people, well most, do not heat there homes with proprane so I can show my wife how silly it is to put a tank in. especially if we can easily just put an electric furnace in our new home.
o, question is how do you heat your home? Proprane, electric, oil, wood?

natural gas. Propane is a nice way to heat, if you dont have natural gas service in your area. Electric is nice also, I just prefer the feeling you get from gas heat. Plus it is cheaper here. I would like a wood fireplace someday.

For the past 10 years, I heated my small home(900 sq ft) in the mountains of North Carolina with wood. Many weekends were spent cutting and splitting wood in preparation for the winter. But with a quality stove, a small fire will get you through the night quite cozily.

I think electric is more efficient.

We have electric heating in our apartment in the city but back home we use wood stoves and oil furnaces.

Electricity is by far the most expensive form of heating. Natural gas is the hands down choice - where available. If it's not available, I'm not sure where propane costs are - do the studies and do the math.

Natural gas...might as well burn the fuel in my house rather than pay the power company to burn the fuel to make electricity to heat my home.

Actually you didn't list what we have. We use a pellet stove with natural gas furnace for back-up.

We tried magical unicorn tears, but the price keeps going up and PETA is upset with those poor unicorns being sprayed with mace to keep them crying. All in all, we decided electric heat was just a better way to go. Perhaps one day those unicorns will be set free (assuming the Asian market does not decide their horns are good for curing hangovers, in which case they are doomed).

Wood-Burning Stove.

Totally saved my ass from freezing when Sandy took out the electric for 11 days. (Even then we don't use the house gas heat.)
