How much trust are you willing to put into someone that says they 'promise' you something? Are you more likely to believe certain people over others, or have your past experiences made you leery/trusting in general?

I'm definitely leery since so many people in my life haven't been trustworthy. I'm super pessimistic.

depends on the person and the promise. and, i prefer people not alter their behavior because of what i might think of them. i don't require others to keep promises. who am i to dictate how they act?

With all of my close friends, if they promise me something, I count on it. Likewise, if I promise them something, I make sure to deliver. I pretty much dump any friend who makes a promise to me and doesn't keep it.

With anybody but a close friend, I either get it in writing or I don't depend on it.

Too many broken promises... they just don't mean much to me anymore. I do keep my promises but I don't ever trust others to do the same. It's much easier not to depend on anyone than to be continuously let down.

Maybe that's not the best attitude to have. But it's the best I can do...

It depends on the person and the promise. I keep mine. I have had the most unlikely people keep to their word--and the ones I just knew would...not keep them!!!

It definitely depends on who is making the promise. I only fully trust a few people. Everyone else, I'm leery of.

Varies a lot on the person and situation. Some people I trust, others I'm skeptical of up until the work is done
