I often wonder that, especially depending on age and lifestyle, mentality, how many people play games on their PCs, and what kind of games...
I lived with someone once who was above 30, and still a real game addict...
He was willing to play only with what he considered to be the very best, and he could literally spend all his free time in front of the screen, playing his games with total attention and almost "living in them"...
My Master is totally the contrary, though He plays every day too, but only some Windows card games (those are Spider and Free Cell exactly), while He is chilling away after a long day of work, or having a break, listening to the radio, smoking, relaxing...
(He is above 50 btw, used to play video games in His Thirties because in those days it was something totally new, and He found it amusing and fun...)
I am very much between the two, I play cards whenever I am eating, and after eating while drinking some coffee and having some smokes, I like to play a lot of card games, Windows or browser based, or simple application, and I occasionally play any other, mostly very simple and enjoyable games, and I don't give a heck about how fancy they are, what matters to me is that they relax me, entertain me, and just make me have fun for a few...
But all in all I couldn't call myself a "gamer", because pretty much the only game I can put full attention into is Heroes V (I LOVE strategy games (ANYTHING about strategy, the art of battles and war, whatever related to it as it fascinates the hell out of me!), though am way better at tactics than long-term sense of strategy... ), but that doesn't chain me to the screen too, and I wouldn't really miss it, ok, maybe a little bit because I find great pleasure in how well-made it is for my taste of gaming and preference of style...
(And I am 25 btw...)
Some people say games are for kids, and I kinda agree, having experienced how funny an adult looks like when (s)he is addicted to such a thing instead of doing something more "enriching", and also, on the other hand I find it adorable when an adult still finds his/her "inner kid" and just does something fun, not caring what others would think...
How is it with you?
And what is your opinion about the topic?
