Can I whine for a minute? Today, while sidelined on the couch after I threw my back out last night (there went my Memorial Day plans, oh well) the A/C quit working. Of course, it had to happen on a Sunday when our apartment office is closed....and I'm pretty sure they'll be closed tomorrow, too, for the holiday. It's supposed to be 93 degrees! Thank God for ceiling fans, but yeah, pretty stuffy in here. Heat makes me very cranky.
Pity party-A/C broke

You poor thing. That absolutely blows.

I totally sympathize! I live in Florida, and the A/C breaking or freezing over quickly turns a house into a steam bath! We had it happen last weekend, so I can totally relate! If you can send the boy out, get a box fan or the like and put it right on you on high. I also rec having a rubbing alcohol wipe-down because the evaporation helps cool you off.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you don't melt away! And I also hope your back feels better!
We are here for you!

Thanks! We tried calling the office and of course they're closed. I'll see about getting a box fan and the alcohol sounds like a great idea....both the rubbing kind and the one that comes in glass bottles. LOL

Having an AC broken in that situation is considered an emergency in just about every state. If you do spend any money on the fans or whatever to keep you cool, keep your receipts and deduct them from your rent payment if they refuse to send someone out. And then follow that up with a call to the local housing authority.
