Years ago, I had a big Koi in our pond and took him in a five gallon bucket to the vet. He had surgery to remove a big tumor from his eye. He lived fine for two more years!!!! I also once used the University Vet Hospital to do a surgery for a tumor on our pet rat. Okay, people thought we were crazy...but the vets were gung ho to try and the rat recovered and lived an active, happy life for another full year. He was our little "ugly tailed dog", as we called him, and he deserved no less care then our dogs...so he got it!!!!
Pet lovers...what is the most exotic pet you have taken to a vet for care???

I've got a conure that we take to the vet, but so far only for routine things like check-ups.
I have to drive out about 40 min to the nearest vet that sees "exotic" animals though.

My sugar gliders go regularly for check-ups, and I once paid a lot of money to fix one of my gliders broken legs.

Okay, so, how do you operate on a fish?? That seems like it'd be insanely difficult seeing as though... you know... they live in water.
I've got a conure, too, and he's a little on the scrawny side so we've taken him a couple times.
