Part II: What are you making for dinner tonight? Or do you call it Supper?

Contributor: P'Gell P'Gell
I always like to get ideas of what to make for dinner. (Midwest, we call the end of the day meal Dinner.)

I have some leftover rice (basmati) half a handmade chicken kiev from our Italian Store, some spinach. I am going to chop the chicken with herbs, blend it with the rice and spinach, add eggs and some breadcrumbs, roll it in egg, then roll it in breadcrumbs and lightly fry it and then bake it in the oven.

I'll probably have a lemon roux type gravy to go with it, and maybe some fruit on the side.

What are you having?

I have absolutely no idea! It's is dinner here (as opposed to supper) but I live alone so I get lazy...I might go for the ever-popular-in-my-hou se baked potato

That sounds yummy

Since it's Monday and everyone will be a little lazy and tired from work when they get in we'll more than likely just order a pizza tonight. Last night we had sweet curry chicken over rice which was absolutely delicious

I'm going to make my version of gyros. Instead of making the lamb concoction that the Greek do, I thinly slice, season, and marinate a venison roast for the meat. After I'm done tenderizing and seasoning it, it tastes about the same and has the same texture as the lamb anyway. My wife made some goat milk yogurt, so I'm going to make my first authentic tzatziki (I usually use a mixture of yogurt and sour cream as the base)

MMMM. All sound good, I love baked potatoes, Tori.

Vac, do you add cucumbers to your tzatziki? I don't really eat dairy products, but I will make an exception for a few precious drops of tzatziki with cucumber (with Lactaid) with my Gyros from our favorite Greek take out place!

Man, poor hungry college student here. Feel free to send any excess meals you have! Lol

Gonna have a sandwich before class, and probably a cup of noodles when I get home, unless I'm SUPER tired.. lol

You can't make tzatziki without cucumbers, can you (although, having said this, I realize I don't have any cucumbers in the house)? I've never tried, at least.

Its called Tea or dinner over here in New Zealand.

We are having a old classic style meal tonight, crumbed snitzel with good old mash potatoes, and steam brocolli, beans and corn on the cob fresh out the vege patch today. All served up with a lovely sage and onion rich gravy....mmmmm yummmmmmm

The kids love it.

I made a fried egg sandwich, with cheddar and sourdough bread.
Then later I ate some leftover curry.

I'm just having peanut butter on toast. Something simple - shopping day tomorrow.

That meal sounds crazy lol but I'm really picky, all I'm making for dinner tonight is corn, mash potatoes and fried chicken.

We eat supper and tonight we had Sheppard's pie. OMNOMNOM!!

(Funny thing about that stuff is that in french it is called Pâté Chinois which literally translates to Chinese Pie. There is nothing Chinese about it in my eyes LOL)

My wife is a vegetarian and my daughter's a vegan so when it's my turn to make dinner it is sometimes a difficult task. But I'm adapting. Tonight I sautéed some onions, tomatoes and diced eggplant in olive oil, then baked it with portobello mushrooms, with a side of couscous and salad. Really easy, very good.

We had turkey sausage, rice, and some leftover garlic bread. I would have preferred something nicer, but I just had a long trip and gas prices are pretty high right now.

I made the chicken croquettes late night. My Man was in heaven. He kept saying how good it was (and I made a gravy, thickened with butter, oil oil, flour and left over bread crumbs from making the croquettes, seasoned with onion, lemon juice and wine) and rushed to make sure there was enough for his lunch today.

We had it with the gravy, some green beans and Mandarin oranges, and it was simply perfection. One of the best meals I've made in a long time.

I had the last two "chicken balls" (as My Man kept calling them, setting my kids to laughter) for breakfast this morning.

Tonight's probably gonna end up being either macaroni&cheese, cereal or some kind of eggs. Lots of schoolwork to be done, no time to cook!

Last night I ended up meeting my husband and some friends at a local pub and ordered myself a steak. Wasn't bad, but the potatoes were better. As for tonight, no idea what's for dinner.

Last night, we ordered in Chinese. I had chicken fried rice and he had shrimp fried rice and we both nom'd two eggrolls with sweet n sour sauce. I'm eating the left overs through out the day and he is munching on other leftovers from Monday and Sunday. ('Dinner' while at home, 'supper' around family.)
