Owning your own business is very rewarding and can be an amazing experience --but is also one hell of a huge responsibility!! I own a nationally recognized independent retail/manufacturing business, a very reputable motorcycle restoration business and a hot-shot hauling business. (And yes, I do most of the work in the first two businesses but share the work on the third with my husband.) I love working for myself and would not have it any other way!!

For me, the frustrations do not come close to the benefits. I deal with the setbacks, bookwork & taxes and the burden of responsibility by rewarding myself with the fun aspects. I love what I do--and that makes all the difference in the world. I admit to being burnt out for awhile in my retail business, but time off due to health issues took care of that. Working for someone else would limit me as a person and my creativity--even though being able to leave work at work would be a big benefit. I also have to admit that when I get a bit overwhelmed with the responsibilities, it would be nice to walk away and let someone else deal with them--part of who I am is the problem solver. I am a huge overachiever with a need to be crazy busy at all times...
