How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
I already asked about your favorite shoes ever , so I though I'd ask this!

My sister has always been notoriously hard on footwear, despite being a tiny little thing. I don't know what the heck she does to beat up these shoes! I, however, still had a pair of ballet flats from 1981! I had to throw them out 8 years ago when the soles started to come off/wear through & there was not a reason to re-sole them.

So, what's your oldest pair of shoes? Not baby shoes! Something you can or do still wear

I have a pair of high-heeled snakeskin cowboy-style boots that were my mom's when she was a teenager - they're at least thirty years old. They're glamorous and gorgeous and I love them, but I need to have one of the heels redone. I think that the oldest pair of shoes I own that were originally mine are about 10 or 11 years old - they're a pair of blue wedge sandals, and actually quite hideous, but since they're slip on with a bit of height, we use them when letting the dogs in and out.

My oldest pair of shoes are ten or so years old. When I find a pair of shoes I love, I immediately tell my family, so they can go to the store and pick up a number of pairs of the same shoes then they send them to me in parcels. So in my storage room, I have a large tote bin filled with brand new pairs of shoes, but they are many years old.

Almost ten years old! I got a pair of wedge heels to wear at my cousin's wedding when I was about 12 or 13, and they a bit big on me then. Now they're a bit too small! But I still like to wear them, since they give me almost four more inches in height. I haven't seen them since I lent them to my sister, though...

They're seven years old, completely worn-out, and I still wear them!

A few months. I had to get rid of ALL of my shoes (I kept sandals and flip-flops that are years old) when I had surgery because I now have to wear supports in my shoes and they were too tight so I had to go up a size so my feet weren't smashed! I bought two new pairs of dress shoes and 4 tennis shoes.

I'm an amputee so when I get new shoes I have to go through the ordeal of getting my leg recalibrated so I don't buy shoes for myself very often. The ironic part about all that is I used to be a real nut for shoes. I took my oldest shopping for shoes (heals) and started crying because I saw a pair that were to die for and I couldn't wear. I showed them to my daughter and she decided she wanted them. DAMMMMNNNN ITTTT!!!! So my athletic shoes are a few years old. I will be getting a new leg soon however and so that means NEW SHOES! Yeah 3 months of hard work ahead. I'm conflicted

No more than 5 years, and I couldn't even tell you which pair.

My oldest pair is actually boots, they are twenty years old and are still going! Gotta love the black metal styled calf high steel toes buckle boots, they last a life time!

I have sandals from about 6 years or so ago. They still fit well and are in good shape, so I see no reason to get rid of them.

I never thought about all this, what a trial & I'd be conflicted, as well! Thanks for sharing!

I would say about one year old. All my good shoes, the ones that I actually want to keep, are in my mom's house and technically are not inside my closet.

My oldest pair of shoes is from when I was in sixth grade and they are my lawn mowing shoes lol! They're pretty damn ugly too but somehow are still amazingly comfy so they're perfect lawn mowing shoes.
