Anybody else get stuck in the Snow-pocalypse of 2011? Where I live, we got a few inches of snow Monday night, a few during the day yesterday, 22" last night, and I think we're expected to get a few more inches of snow tonight. It took my husband over 5 hours to get our driveway cleared out, and the drifts came up taller than me in some spots.
Holy Schnikey!!! That's a lot of freakin' snow. We've been sunny and dry all day, this is more of a rainy season for us but we did get snow in January. Of course, the entire city went nuts-o and the roads were a mess.
We got a good dumping over night and all day today. I dont know what the total is yet (I will check later) but they were calling for 20 cm. School buses were canceled today.

I have no pics yet but I might take some later.
Everything here shut down. Schools, banks, grocery stores, car parts places, everything, lol.
Same thing here. (My thread is here.) Are you guys digging out OK? My Man was out for about 7 or 8 hours yesterday, as after we did our driveway, (that took about 3 to 4 hours, with the deck and front, no sidewalks but still) he went around to elderly neighbors who can't shovel and helped them. One guy asked him, "Who do you work for?" While reaching for his wallet. My Man just laughed and said, "Nobody, I'm your neighbor." He wouldn't take any money for it.

Neighbors should always be willing to help each other out! That's awesome!

We're doing pretty good so far. My husband spent about 5 1/2 hours yesterday just cleaning the driveway so the snow wouldn't all turn to ice when the temp dropped into the negatives. I don't think we've really done sidewalks around here yet, and we're still debating doing the side of the house, lol.
We have a friend that has a snow plow and just going from his house, to his mother's house (not that far away), he had enough people flag him down for plowing out their driveway he made $300. And I know he doesn't charge any ridiculous prices either.
I'm not sure why but the day before we were supposed to get hit all of Western New York began closing schools for tomorrow. University at Buffalo, where I go, closed and they NEVER close.
We got a couple of inches and some sleet. We got more snow than that last night, the night after the "storm".
I did once see Buffalo get 7 feet of snow in little over 2 days. That was insane. Driving, once roads were open, was like being in a tunnel.

A friend of ours also has a little Cat plow (I don't what it is, mechanical equipment isn't my thing) and he does well for his family, plowing small parking lots for small businesses. His business is mostly a summer business, so he makes money in the winter doing this. It's all good. He often does our drive way for nothing, but usually My Man has gotten to it before this man is done with his rounds. It's still really nice of him.
We don't have sidewalks, but we have huge driveways, as most of us here live on between a half and a full acre. That's at least 100 to 200 feet of driveway, plus parking spots. UG.

We have a 4 car driveway that had 4 cars in it. He had to move each car to get all the snow that drifted underneath so that we could try and prevent cars from getting frozen to pavement. Luckily we'll only really need 2 of the cars until Monday, when I have to go back to my night job.
