would you tell a HUGE lie if you knew it would be better for everyone?
Would you tell a huge lie if it were better for everyone involved?

telling the truth is alway better for me... id rather say it now than in come out later in the wash..

I have a guilty concious

It depends on what I'd be lying about, but if it seems necessary I'd lie.

i voted the no, but i would not speak bad of someone or uncover someones truth. it is not my place to bring such pain to someone. i would never want to see a life destroyed.

no, i would have to tell the truth even if it destroyed lives

I have had to in the past, just to save an older person from dying of heart break.

If it was my business to say something, I would be honest. However, I would never share someone else's truth just because.

I'm honest to a fault. It gets me in trouble sometimes. I always feel it's better to tell the truth than lie.

It would really depend on the situation. I would if it were the best thing to do.

I would rather tell the truth but sometimes it's not possible.

Depends on the lie. I might lie.

I might probably try to lie. But I'm not that good and it depends on the lie.
01/02/2013
I would try, but bad lies eat me up inside. It has to be for the greater good.

It's hard for me to say that I would or wouldn't without knowing the situation first.

I agree that it depends on the situation. When I was young and somewhat sociopathic, I told a lot of lies, some of them for my benefit at the expense of others--but also many for the benefit of others, even occasionally at my own expense. I don't regret the ones I told to help others.
Now that I'm older and much more empathetic, I believe it's usually better to tell the truth and almost always best to be honest with the people you're closest to. But in my opinion, there's no need to be obsessive about it.
Whatever will bring the greatest benefit while causing the least harm is, in my opinion, the right course of action, even if it means breaking rules.

I hate lying, in that you have to remember a falsehood. It is much easier to tell the truth. Nothing to "keep track of" then. However, sometimes a little white lie is not a bad thing at all.

"Does this dress make me look fat"? The person asking rarely wants to hear "hell yes".
Of course, your question covers a broader context and yes, if a little lie would protect people, then I would indeed consider it.
