North Korea named "target cities" in the USA. Experts assure they cannot reach there, but if you live in those cities, does it still cause you even the tiniest bit of worry?

We have loved one's in two of those cities. Knowing, intellectually, this is all "bark" and no "bite", still does not cause me to have a tiny bit of anxiety. I spoke to one relative in one of those cities and they actually thought about taking a two week vacation (unplanned) just to be elsewhere..."just in case". They are not only going to do it, but they really did give it some thought (they have two small children...they worry).

If you live in these cities, what is YOUR thought process about this new "threat"?

The probability is extremely low that an attack by North Korea would actually strike a city in the USA. Seol is a much more likely target. Given that however, just like in the past, I suspect that the sabre rattling is really a ploy to get financial and food assistance. They have been paid off in the past and in all likelihood will be again.

I don't have anyone that lives there (nor do I). I think there's always that tinge of worry, but I'd be much more concerned if I was in South Korea, Japan, or Guam.

I lived in Japan when N. Korea was firing 'test' missiles just off the coast of Japan and even though Japan begged for help from the US for years it seems like we're only doing something now that we're the ones being threatened.

Here is my point: Our border crossing guards cannot stop trucks full of illegal drugs from passing, who is to say they are gonna catch a semi with a nuke in it?

You don't have to put it on a missile if you can drive it right across the border.

I'm with Sammi on this one.

Given that they were off by quite a bit on some of the city locations, and the targeting board shown previously was targeting Austin Tx, I'm not particularly worried about them getting remotely close to anything

Totalitarian governments need a scape goat or something to hate in order to keep the people focused on that instead of how horrible their life is. The media certainly isn't helping anything by blowing the situation out of proportion like they always do.

Even CNN has zero respect now, they just sensationalize stories in order to get ratings and get rich, accurate reporting and caring about the public is long dead if it ever existed in journalism.

Here's the way I'm seeing it currently: if South Korea isn't worried, neither am I. From what I am hearing, South Korea thinks we are a little strange because our news is getting so worked up about it. They are used to threats that never come to anything, because that's all NK has - threats.

I don't live in a big city or anywhere near a base really. However, I do worry. No matter how unlikely, any likeliness is scary.

At one level I kinda wish he'd go ahead and attack - then we could end the 60+ years of stand-off. But things are never that simple and a lot of innocent people and brave service members would die - so I guess we let the petulant little brat throw his tantrums.

I live near New York. Ever since the first World Trade Center bombing (in 1993), I've worried just a little bit about pretty much all the major cities in the US, or at least you could say, I've been aware of the possibility of disaster (and have made some plans to deal with it).

I really don't know how much of a threat North Korea poses to Los Angeles, where I have several good friends, or to the other "target" cities — but there are enough other potential threats that I can't help but be at least somewhat concerned.

My biggest worry about the North Korea situation is actually that someone on our side will trump something up, and use it to justify going to war, similar to what happened in the Gulf of Tonkin incident back in the '60s.

None of it bothers me, and honestly I wasn't even paying attention to the whole thing.

Other because I don't live in one of those cities, don't have a loved one in one of those cities, but am still a bit concerned for those who do live in them!

I don't live near any of their "target" cities, but I do have family and friends in some of them.

I think he's just a little brat throwing a tantrum, as well. I doubt anything will happen. North Korea would be virtually wiped out if they attacked. If that little twerp doesn't realize that he's even more insulated than we thought.

I'm not worried. I doubt he even has the ability to miniaturize a nuclear war head in the first place. Have you seen the computers they use? They don't have the technology. Of course, China could shut them right down, if they really wanted to. WHY are they not stepping in? They could stop this in a minute. Why is the USA always supposed to be the Policemen of the entire world? I'm damn tired of it.

IMO, we should put a trade embargo on China (bye bye Walmart until they DO something to shut Kim Jong Un (or whatever the fuck he calls himself) the hell up.

And, I think we should try Dennis Rodman for treason while we're at it, the imbecile.

I'm not super political but I do live in Texas...
I've been hearing it's specifically Austin too, where I live.
I try not to think about it.

I live just outside of DC... but of course that would be a target in any type of aggressive move. I am not worried. It is not the first time our country has been targeted and it won't be the last.
