I was just wondering something. I just got my first article published and I was wondering if I'm allowed messaging my followers about it and asking if they could check it out? I did not know if we were allowed or if that would be against the rules and being considered a form of harassment and the sort. Anyone know if I'm allowed to do so?

I'm not sure... I'd recommend just putting it in your profile status?

I do have that already It's no biggie if I can't, I just figured it would help it get noticed more if I was able to. Not everyone has me on their most recent 10 and hardly anyone actually goes through their list of who they follow. Haha. But yes, it is in my status at least.

Maybe for now you could just put it on a few of your followers walls? I find that wall messages seem less intrusive than private messaging people with requests, etc. Maybe that's just me though! Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

No, you're good. Thank you! haha. Maybe I will try the walls a bit.

Your best bet would be to start a forum thread on it, unless you talk to your followers often. Mass emailing people is generally frowned on.

Didn't one of the threads by SexIs specifically say starting threads to get people to check out your articles was against the rules?

Forum thread's are acceptable, but should be used to generate a discussion and not simply be a request for people to read your article: link

How to Promote Your Articles
You can even start a forum thread in the SexIs section of the forum to generate discussion about the topic you wrote about, and link back to your article. However, please be sure the thread is relevant to your post and not just a request for people to visit it. Debates on controversial opinions and ideas are welcome, but personal attacks are not. The same Expectations of Conduct apply here as they do elsewhere on the forum.

And I did not start this thread to get views, I started it to ask a question. As for the one about my article, I posted about how I was excited I wrote my first article and it was a discussion thread on my actual article. If there was something wrong with doing that I was not aware.

My comment was in response to Geogeo who thought that forum threads were not allowed in regards to promoting published articles. I was not implying anything regarding your article since you didn't even mention or link it in your original post. Your question was completely valid.

This is good to know. I actually didn't know this. I've had 3 people who send me PM's asking me to vote their articles and stuff. One person has done it more than once, so I do understand why there are rules against it.
