Venus is remarkably visible lately and it's far closer than any of the stars people wish on, so it's much more likely to get back to you. It's west just after sunset(same area the sun sets if you get turned around like most folks). And since the most of the planets are named for Gods and Goddess, Venus seems pretty fitting for most wishes.
