London Olympics - are you watching?

Contributor: Jaimes Jaimes
Is anyone on Eden a fan of the Olympics? We spent all day Sunday glued to the TV, and my husband is recording most of the coverage while I'm out of town this week.

What are your favorite events? Any fond memories of Olympics past?

Does anyone remember seeing Olympic moments that are now considered iconic? Kerri Strug, Mary Lou Retton, Derek Redmond and his father, etc.

I love the Olympics! I see it as an opportunity to be exposed to sports that I wouldn't usually see, so I look for more than just my favorites. I have watched tennis, fencing, rowing, cycling, swimming, gymnastics, water polo, volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, slalom, and boxing...so far!

We were reminiscing last night about Keri Strug and Mary Lou Retton. I remember both of those well.

We watch as much as possible - I usually don't watch any of these sports much on TV, but they're fun to watch during the Games.

The moments I probably remember the best from the Olympics are watching the 1980 Men's Hockey Team beat Russia and then Finland and winning gold. I'm not a hockey fan, but that was exciting! The other I remember well is when Greg Louganis hit his head during his diving competition in 1988.

I try to watch but for whatever reason I seem to be missing all the events I wanted to see. I did catch some swimming, gymnastics and some womens indoor volleyball. Can't wait to see some track & field!

I'm watching some of it, yes. I don't have any favourite moments. Actually, I did catch an interview with the father of a South African swimmer who won a race. He was brilliant.

I have been watching every night and I even taped, (DVR) several of the sports and the opening show. It has been quite enjoyable.

I watched the women's gymnastics last night and some of the swimming competitions.

I was a huge fan of the Magnificent Seven during the 1996 olympics, and remember Kerri Strug getting injured.

I have them on the tv every day, but only pay attention to my favorite events, like diving, swimming, and gymnastics. Phelps was pretty awesome last night.

Swimming is my favorite event. I love Phelps. I can't believe he's gotten so many medals in his career! Gymnastics and diving are cool too. And the whitewater events. But that's about it.

I can't believe my eyes when Michael Phelps lost the gold medal last night in the 200-meter butterfly. I'm really happy the U.S. women's gymnastics team won gold though!

My husband remembers that. He also remembers how nice a guy he was, since he would train at their high school pool.
