Do you ever shop at local businesses? Would you prefer to shop at a local place or know what you're getting into before you ever go?

I prefer local places - it's so much more organic and original. It's also a great way of developing network contacts for small businesses and shoppers. Someone will know somebody who would have whatever you're looking for.

I try to with things that are made locally. If the business is just selling the same brands and stuff that every place sells, then I will get it where ever it is cheapest.

No. I rather know what's going on before I go.

I try to but some make it hard. The quality vs price can be off form what you would find online. It really depends on what I'm buying and how many places sell it in the area I'm in. When it comes to buying the oils and stuff I need to make body products, I prefer it online because the quality offered in the shops I have been to locally didn't match what I found online.

Most of the places I shop are big chain stores like Wal-Mart, but once in a while I find a local gem...matter of fact, I'm taking my mom out to this cute little local breakfast nook over in Whitman that I found online for her birthday as a treat. =3

I try to do as much of my shopping as possible locally. I live in a small town, and we had nearly a tenth of the locally-owned businesses shut down this past year. I stop by a chain store only if it's cost-prohibitive to shop locally.

We don't have a sex toy store within 20 miles, so I'm happy to patronize EF and suggest it to all my friends...!

I do when I can. I love local quirky shops but sometimes they're just too expensive for my budget. "/

I try to shop locally owned stores, but it often comes down to affordability. My other problem is that I'm frequently housebound due to heath issues & ordering online & having it delivered to me has changed my life for the better!

I try to shop locally

I like to, but mostly for specialist items. If it's something ordinary then I'll just get it wherever's cheapest.

I want to shop locally, but there just isn't much here, and what is tends to be not that great. For instance, I drink a lot of loose leaf tea that I usually order, but one day I noticed that our town had a listing for a tea shop. I was overjoyed and went to it, but couldn't find the door. The closest thing lead into an antique store, so I popped in there and asked them about the tea shop. They had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, one of them realized what I was asking (they even had a SIGN IN THE WINDOW for the tea shop), and took me to the "tea shop," which was just a tiny alcove within the antique store that resold crappy tea from another company.
I also do a lot of sewing, and I usually order fabric online. Then a small sewing shop opened up where you were supposed to be able to get anything. I found their fabric was way overpriced, the staff was rude, their sewing machine repair man was usually nowhere to be found, and if I asked for a very common sewing item, they usually had no idea what I was talking about.
Husband, however, has had better luck with local businesses.

I try to shop locally, but it's difficult sometimes. My groceries are generally from the local farmers' market, but for other goods, the qualities from local business swing from either extremes- they can be very good or atrocious.

Sometimes, but there's not much to find what I need.
