Living with parents and recieving things for reviews.. How do you hide/explain it?

Contributor: Nissa Nissa Nissa Nissa
I've been getting quite a few packages from edenfantasys lately and my mom has begun to get suspicious because she is very nosy and I might get griped at if it continues.. If you live with your parents how do you explain your packages? Do you ever get lectured for ordering too much stuff online?

Any examples/advice is appreciated.

I order in bulk, go buy something random at the store I need, and explain the package as being that random thing ("oh I got it on Amazon!") I also get them shipped to babysitting sometimes, like the Wing that was gonna be a little big to explain.

My friend lives at home so I have them send packages to me and then I give them to her.

I guess I'll just have to keep coming up with better ways to explain it. The small package I got today was "Just some nail polish I ordered"

I'm tempted to tell her about it one day but I have a feeling she'd tell me to stop.

I don't live with my parents, but I'm pretty open with them about all this EF thing So if one of them pays me a visit accidentally I don't bother hiding the empty boxes or some other traces of the delivery ) But I guess, it's a very rare situation, though...

My mum accidentally opened a package of mint today, but luckily it was a discreet toy (Thank you Close2You for your tasteful packaging) and she gave it to me when she saw that it wasn't her shoes and my name was on the box! I don't think that she'd really care, but I won't talk to her about it unless she asks!

I don't live at home but my siblings do. And my dad doesn't look at the name on the packages he just opens them because he just assumes they are for him since he orders stuff online all the time. And my sister got a vibrator in the mail one time and was freaking out because she thought he was just going to open it when it came in. And shes like DAD DONT OPEN MY PACKAGES. And hes like why is there sex toys in them, its ok we all have sex blah blah blah. And she got super embarrassed and was like NO, I just dont want you opening my stuff.

My parents live with me, and we're open with almost everything, they know what I do on the computer. It's not like I'm camming or anything. sometimes mom even opens the boxes (as long as I'm there).

My dad is fairly respectful of my privacy, though he does wonder what it's all about. I just say that it's none of his business.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure that he knows, but won't ask me about it. It's hard to hide some ~100 dildos and vibrators completely, and I'm sure he's seen it.

My mom just left them in a pile for me with the rest of my mail. I ended up just telling her that I review adult products and I show her some of the more discreet or higher end stuff.

No one has ever opened my packages but me. The only gripe I ever get from people I live with is "You should be saving you money, not spending it!"

Well, if I'm going to order I prefer to do it in bulk, that way there's less packages coming in. My mom knows and she doesn't care, dad on the other hand will flip.

When I get my package I'll just tell him that my boyfriend got me art supplies (as an art student, this is acceptable). If he wants to see, I'll just go get a pack of paint brushes or something.

Basically your best bet is telling them that you got it as a gift from one of your friends and if they persist on wanting to know what, tell them its something that you own but they have yet to see.

Yeah I know. I am an adult and she is pretty understanding. I just need to get over this overwhelming feeling of guilt if i "disappoint" her. :x

I don't live with my parents, but my Mom knows I review sex toys. She thinks my blogs and reviewing in general is a waste of my time and that I'm neglecting my duties as a Mom in favor of it so she does bitch at me, but not specifically because of the sex toys.

Lol. I've been in a reviewer for over a year, but only started with EF several months ago so my family's used to me getting stuff all the time. I do a lot of marketing and PR stuff for several companies I'm involved in so there used to me talking up products and stuff. Every once in a while when they talk me into doing a little "advertising" for beauty products I'll host a small gathering where my friends and family are able to use the products for themselves, so they aren't surprised when I get packages and they're around. Also my family doesn't go through my things or open packages of mine. Ever once in a while I'll get a package at my parent's address and they would never open it. They've always believed in respecting each other's privacy. I guess if they were nosy and I was in your situation, I would definitely ask them to back off. I'm not a confrontational person at all, but in this case I would ask them to stop and explain that it's my business and they should respect my privacy. I tell them it's an invasion of my personal privacy and not to mention it's illegal to open other's mail. Of course I wouldn't turn my own mom in for that, but if things got out of hand you could mention that to her and maybe it would help?

lol yea my parents would ask every single time i recieved even an envelope, ooh what is that!? Let me see...they are so nosy!! Before even attempting to have packages delivered home I spoke with my sister to let her know what I do here an if she would mind if I had packages delivered here. She didn't mind. However, my boyfriend's family is very liberal and comfortable so I just have them delivered there. Now his mom is like oo whats in the sexy box

Why doesn't she like you doing it? As long as you do it in your free time and it isn't costing you money meant for something else, it seems like a perfectly fine hobby. That's how I think of it; my new hobby!

I don't see why reviewing products is something that employers would disapprove of. Also, your name isn't on the site, they have no way of looking it up.

Yeah I know. She's paranoid. I'm going to wait until I am out of the house completely to tell her that I might be interested in digitally designing dildos :x
(try saying that last bit 3 times fast.. phew!)

It sucks being 26, being basically housebound with a sprained ankle and single.. I also get a huge guilt trip if I even seem like I might sleep with someone I'm dating so it's like I'm a freaking prisoner! I'm still going to college so there isn't really any easy way out for me.

Why can't you sleep with people you're dating? I guess I really don't understand other people's parents~ My mum's never been open about sex, but she let me know that I'm a responsible human being and that she respects my choices! She's well aware that I'm sexually active, and she knows that I'm safe!

If you're in a long term relationship, I see no reason why not to have sex!

Ever since i was little she basically told me men are evil and don't have sex with just anyone. I get a lecture whenever I seem like i might be interested in it.. I haven't slept with anyone in 5 years..

I have a long distance boyfriend I was thinking of sleeping with (but he is super christian and won't have it) and she basically remarked when I mentioned that issue.. "But you really aren't going to sleep with him......are you?" with a disgusted face.

I swear its like she wants me to become a lesbian or something.

Sexual frustration is a natural urge that people have. I feel like you need to explain to her that you're your own person and that you have your own life to live. I understand the 'under my roof you won't!' stuff to a point, but that is just unhealthy. People need space to grow, like fish. If you put a feeder goldfish in a pond, it'll grow into a koi, but in a tank it'll stay the same size.

Did she have a bad sexual experience?

I don't live with my parents anymore but I was lucky that my dad wasn't too nasy when I was living at home. If I lived there now I think it would be a different story! My dad remarried and my stepmom is super nosy. I have no doubt that she would look through all my packages.

She was a bit rowdy when she was younger and her parents basically treat her like the bad seed because of it.

I do feel a lot like a little gold fish smacking my head against the glass. I just don't have any real options right now.
