Let's talk about makeup!

I'm expecting an order from bhcosmetics tomorrow and I'm super excited. It's my special birthday gift! I'm getting the tropical matte and shimmer palette, the 88 cool matte palette, and the 32 lip palette.

Do you have a favorite eyeshadow primer? I've only ever used e.l.f.'s primers for $1 and haven't tried anything else yet. I should have ordered the bhcosmetics primer but I wasn't sure if it was just going to be the same or not. I want a good primer but not sure where to get it from.

Do you have a favorite foundation? I'm still struggling trying to find something that will work for me. Right now I've got Maybelline Matte Mousse which is pretty good but it's drying out my face. I guess it's time to find something else!

Do you have any favorite makeup brands, products, ect?

I use L'Oreal Bare Naturale powder foundation for eye shadow primer. I use a medium brush.

I usually use L'Oreal Visible Lift Foundation, but I used to use Clinique, before I had kids and could afford it. I also use Olay Definity Color Recapture, which is something for color issues (like when you get the Mask of Pregnancy and it leaves brown around your eyes and forehead and stuff) and have found it has nearly totally evened out my skin tone! It has serum and color in the same interesting container. For special occasions I use Olay Filler, but it's so expensive, I only use it when we go out. But, it totally fills in little lines for a short period of time. (I'm really vain. It's pathetic. )

I have a lot of different eye shadows. I like Maybelline Creme Shadow in the four color compacts. I also like powder shadows and have been using Bella il Fiore shadows and stuff, from Eden. I can use my points and there are so many colors to play with. I used to use the little pots of loose powder L'Oreal HIP. But, I can no longer find them.

I use Blackest Black creme, gel or liquid eye liner, and either Telescopic Explosion or Double Extend mascara. All in the darkest black I can get.

Blush is catch as catch can. I can't really find one I like, but I do use L'Oreal Bare Naturale blush most of the time. I had a perfect color from Clinique, but I can't find it in any other brand.

I use several different lipsticks and glosses. Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks, usually in plums, or browns. And Revlon lip glosses in clear or pink. I do like Cake lip gloss, from Eden, too. Sometimes the vanilla taste gets to me a little, though. But, it lasts nicely.

I'm waiting for the UPS man at the moment.

I just discovered these new makeup wipes from Pond's that smell like lavender. I love using them before bed. They smell really nice and relaxing.

I like mineral eyeshadows a lot but I don't know what to put on to make them "stick." I always end up making a big mess too so lately I just go for the pressed eyeshadows.

Today seems like a good day to wash all my brushes out and reorganize the top of my dresser where I keep all my makeup stuff. Can't wait to play with my new stuff coming soon.

I like Bare Escentuals eye primer. Benefit also makes a good one (Stay Don't Stray). Urban Decay has one of the best (Primer Potion).

Mousse foundation is generally best for mature skin as it fills wrinkles rather than sinking into them. Other than that, it can dry skin out. If you like the look, make sure you apply a super hydrating moisturizer before you apply foundation.

I use Bare Escentuals mineral foundation most of the time. I also like Makeup Forever's HD Foundation. Also a fan of MAC's foundation. I'm super picky about foundations since most things make me break out. That's why I mostly use BE.

The mineral eyeshadows have a serious learning curve to them. They create a lot of fallout if you're not careful. Once you get the hang of it, they are the best thing ever. I have over 150 mineral eyeshadows. LOVE them. The BE primer works best with these since it's formulated to work with the mineral shadows. Urban Decay is second for mineral shadows.

Favorite Makeup: Bare Escentuals, Too Faced, Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, MAC, NARS, Glamor Doll Eyes, Smashbox

Favorite Skin Care: Murad, Clinique, Kate Somerville, some Philosophy products but not others

I have a loooot of makeup. LOL Actually, I'm starting school next month to be a makeup artist. So I guess my opinion might count for something.

Oh cool! Thanks for sharing. I love makeup but I'm definitely not a pro or anything. I just do my own thing. I liked the matte mousse because my skin gets oily on my forehead/nose and I liked how it covered my redness so well. But yeah, after a while it's really just drying me out and making my skin flaky. I hate taking care of my weird combination skin because it seems like nothing works right. Blah.

Oh, I got my package today! One of my palettes was the wrong one plus it was all busted. =[ I emailed them so hopefully they send me the right one this time.

Murad has something called "Oil Control Mattifier" or something like that. It works really well and isn't drying. You could get that and just apply it to the areas that get oily. Then put a regular moisturizer on the other areas. Kinda a pain, but it should work.

That sucks. I'm sure they will take care of it for you.

I use bare minerals for my face because it's the only thing that won't break my skin out and doesn't make me look like a "cake-face", it looks completely natural.
I use mineral blush, whatever I find at Wal-Mart that I like, I don't spend much because I hardly wear it.
I usually just use Maybelline or Cover Girl eyeshadow, I don't have a problem with it wearing off before the night is over. The same with eyeliner, I like the crayon like softer pencil over a regular pencil. I do have some Sephora eye makeup. I have colors to match just about anything but I usually wear earth tones or gold/bronze colors.
I don't always wear lip color but when I do I have tinted tingling lip gloss from Pure Romance that I use or I get Burt's Bees tinted lip balm because it has the same cooling effect that the clear lip balm has. Other lip color products just seem to dry my lips out while those I mentioned keep them moisturized.

They emailed me back and said they'll be shipping out a new palette to me. Woohoo! The wrong/broken one I have isn't that bad... I could probably clean it up and use it. Lucky me, free palette! Maybe this was a good mistake. lol. It's pretty, it's the Neutral palette.

Yay! Generally makeup returns can't be accepted because they just have to throw them away anyhow. I know Sephora will take them and some bigger chains. Most little distributors will just replace with the correct item.

The Neutral palette is really pretty! That's a good daily palette to have.

I cleaned it up the best I could. Only two of the colors were cracked and ruined. But other than that it's awesome!

I have a box of Cake stuff to review from here tomorrow! I can't wait to try the new stuff out.

OMG! I LOVE Cake stuff. Their Milk Made line is the best ever.

I got Cake Desserted Island Duo (with the hand cream and the body wash) plus a bottle of the body lotion. Smells so yummy! Plus I got Venus body scrub and body butter both in the Milk scent. Smells yummy like almonds. And a body butter from Dona in CamuCamu. Definitely disappointed with that one. It barely has a scent at all and the whiff I can smell smells like playdough. It has a fabulous texture and it's really moisturizing though! I'll have to start writing out my reviews tonight. I'm really excited about my new stuff. Woohoo!

The Cake body lotion is lovely. I don't care for the Desserted Island scent, but hubby loves it. I only have the Venus Milk in the body spray. I think the body scrub is salt based which doesn't work well for me. I agree about the Dona body butter. It is really moisturizing, but for me it's too thick. It makes me feel lotion-y for hours. Yucky!

I mostly use Urban Decay, Smashbox, and MAC. (Mostly MAC) I used Lancome for years and sometimes I still will, but it really depends.

There's no telling how much make-up stuff I have. I'm an admitted product whore.

Don't judge me.

I have a ton of makeup too. Whenever I buy more I feel like I have to be secretive because my boyfriend thinks I'm a crazy makeup hoarder. lol.

I once kept a spreadsheet of products I had so I wouldn't accidentally buy dupes if I went to the store and browsed. It's hard to remember the names of all that stuff. X.x

I hide my stuff sometimes too. LOL! My husband thinks two purple eyeshadows is too many. I have two drawers of purples...

The best eyeshadow primer I have found is urban decay, and I buy it at Sephora along with the sephora oil free tinted moisturizer. For eye liner I use MAC. Eye shadow Clinique, and their primer is not too bad but it is shiny and shine is very aging! I wear smashbox lipgloss when I wear it, but I more typically wear MAC lipstick. I buy cheap maybeline powder and my mascara is covergirl in the orange tube and it it the best I have found! Even better than Dior! All my skin care is philosophy.

It would be great if some money fell out of the sky so I could go on a sugarpill shopping spree. That stuff is so pretty!

Has anyone ever tried that nail polish screen print type thing? My mom got one at the store today, it comes with a stencil disk, a suqeegee thing, and a stamper. We were playing with it on our nails today and it was really hard to do at first. It's neat! I think it's called Flirt or something, they make nail stickers too and stuff like that. I'm sure there's probably a better one out there but maybe they're basically all the same? I want to look up more stencil plates sometime.

Not a particular fav. but I do go wild with the bold colored eyeshadows! Lol.

My favorite foundation is the natural stuff from Nutra-Lift. It works so wonderfully and I don't like the thick makeup look and usually only use it to sort of make my skin look less dead. I'm anemic and my face shows it! I love the foundation from Nutra-Lift. Only takes a little and it's so easy to get super full coverage, but it's natural and will benefit your skin. NO breakouts. I love all the Nutra-Lift products. I use their facial soap, 24kt gold lotion and facial mask, etc. I love the natural products. Even the facial cleanser is non-soap and still cleans amazingly well! I have used other foundation and am not a fan of any. I do like Almay's blendy stuff. Used it for a couple years but it's way too high. I use Velvet Skin Coat rather than those primers. It's AMAZING, but very overpriced! I have to limit my use because the crap prices. It works so nicely though. I use a kabuki brush for the foundation and kind of buffer it in and it creates a flawless look without looking totally fake.

I had the same problem with the mousse foundations drying me out! They're supposed to help dry skin, but they always made mine worse. Most any foundation would dry mine and show the little flecks of dry patches and I hated it. Since I started Nutra-Lift, I haven't had any dry skin. Yipee!

Yep! I use one of those for my customers! I love it, but it's a pain. I don't use it on my own nails though.

I love elf's eyeshadow primer! It works great for me, as my eyelids are somewhat oily. It's all I use. For eyeshadow, I like Avon - they have cool, pretty inexpensive palettes with a lot of colors, so one can experiment. I use eyeliner from Ulta, as it never smudges. My favorite foundation by far is Covergirl NatureLuxe. It has a light scent and feels great on my skin. It also has sunscreen!

Ooo that Nutra-Lift sounds good!

That matte foundation is drying my face out so bad, but at the same time I have oily skin. It's like it doesn't make sense at all! How can I have such an oily T-zone but have flaky dry skin too? Ugh I hate it! I seriously need to find something to work for me. It's getting really frustating.

I got a new moisturizer at the store the other day. It's the Equate version of Aveeno's daily moisturizer with spf 15. It feels good but I'm still trying it out. I should have looked at the ingredients first, it's full of parabens and other crap. Blah. lol.
