How many days will you eat left overs? I know some people who refuse to eat left overs and some who will try to make one whole chicken last all week, but found out the hard way there is a limit on that. So how many days is your limit?

1-2 days, but they're usually gone by then(there's 4 of us in the family.) If it wasn't eaten after day two I'd eat it on the third day but that would be the limit. Usually doesn't happen. My hubby on the otherhand doesn't really like eating leftovers so its just me and the boys that will eat leftovers. I usually eat whatever is left from supper for my lunch the next day.

Same here. I just ate left over Chinese food, this was day two. That is my limit as well. I am the one who usually eats left overs as well, my honey is like why would I eat what I had last night, if there is perfectly good food to cook. It drives me nuts, because I end up throwing it out, what a waste!

It really depends on what it is.
Meat leftovers- 1 to 2 days
Pasta, rice, potatoes - up to 4
We manage a ski lodge, so we are both home everyday for lunch. Leftovers are great for lunches...sandwiches get so boring.
I also will often throw leftovers in the freezer for a quick meal later on. Then you don't have to worry how long it's been hanging out in the fridge, it's quick to make and easy to clean up.

Two, maximum three days. In our house the motto is "If in doubt, throw it out." I don't like to waste food, but getting sick from old food is wasting food AFTER you eat it.
I have friends who "save money" by keeping food way too long. I hesitate to eat at their houses, because I never know when they bought or thawed what is being served.
I do not consider my body a garbage dump, so food that is even slightly suspect goes in the garbage.

My brother in law and his wife work a lot and are busy, but they like to cook a large meat item, like turkey, ham, whole chicken, etc..but make it last all week if possible. They did get sick once from this, because chicken has a limit!

Leftovers hardly last longer than a day in my house.
11/22/2011
It depends on the item and how long it can last in the fridge before going bad, but usually 2-3 days.
11/22/2011
For turkey day, I will let turkey and some sides go for 2-3 days. But I otherwise can't do leftovers. Especially if it is tomato-sauce based. The smell of cold tomato gets my stomach rolling.

Depends on what it is. I don't like the consistency of most leftover foods, but my husband will eat just about anything you put in front of him.
11/22/2011
Depending on what it is, I'll say 2-3 days. If I have waaaayyy too much of something, I will divide it up and freeze it. The leftovers last much longer that way, but not everything freezes and reheats well.

2-3 days for us But with two kids its lucky if it lasts that long. I will point out that some food are better as left overs, chili comes to mind
11/22/2011
I will freeze a bunch of leftovers for when I don't feel like cooking. I also mix them up with new foods so it isn't quite like the same meal every day.

Our leftovers usually get eaten in 2-3 days. They would probably last longer if they didn't disappear so quickly, though.

A day or two.
My boyfriend has eaten leftovers like 4 days after they've been in the fridge though. It's pretty gross.

It depends on what the dish is.
11/22/2011
We eat the left overs the next day or it gets thrown out.
11/22/2011
It depends completely on what it is that we are eating. If it is something I absolutely LOVE, I will eat it 2-3 days later (by then it is always gone) but if it is something I'm not head over heels for, I will only eat it 1 day and any leftovers are thrown out
11/22/2011
We rarely have left overs because we dont usually make too much food. But for things like soup and chili we make enough for 2 or 3 days.
11/22/2011
After day two, leftovers are just "meh" to me, so I don't really feel like eating them.
The singular exception: Thanksgiving leftovers. I usually get sent home with so much food that it lasts me until Saturday, perhaps Sunday lunch.

Two days max, no matter what kind of food it is, have to consider the bacteria issues!
11/22/2011
on sunday i make pork chops that last until about tues or wed.
11/22/2011
1-2 days if I eat them. It really depends on what the leftover is. And we usually only make enough for the 2 of us that there aren't leftovers. Except for the holidays, then I can eat leftovers for a week.
11/22/2011
Two or three for the main items. For the dessert, until it's gone, which could be longer than four days if I'm not being awful.
11/22/2011
It's sometimes a terrible waste, but 95% of the time I can't stand left overs from a restaurant
11/22/2011
just a day or two!
11/22/2011
If it's more than is going to get eaten in a day or 2 post cooking I usually freeze the extras.
11/22/2011
I try really hard not to waste anything, but after a few days the texture of food is just gross, especially in the microwave...
11/22/2011
Usually 1-2. Sometimes 2-3. Depends on what it is and how fast it spoils. Usually if it has dairy it only stays for a day or two.

I might do ONE day. After that, anything DOG SAFE gets added to their dinner to spice it up a bit. Beyond that, we try and toss it, as it just gets green and moldy in the fridge and ends up getting tossed anyone...in a week or so.
