Ladies on the pill, where do you keep it?

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
Between just a few of my friends and I, we all keep our birth control pills in different places, and I'm curious as to where the majority keep theirs. Do you have any specific reasons for storing yours a specific place? Or is that just kinda always how you've done it. Men, feel free to answer for your ladies if appropriate.

I don't take the Pill anymore. But I did when I was teenager and in my early 20s. I lived with my (nosy) mother, so I kept my Pill in the compartment in my purse. She found it anyway, "Oh, I was looking for....um...some change.....I want you to not do that anymore....it isn't good for you....sex is for married people." I wanted to say, "Really, then why do you and Daddy never do it?" But, I simply said, "No. I like it, I think I'll continue. And stay out of my purse, before you find something that really shocks you."

I keep mine right out on my nightstand, mostly for the ease of being able to take it and then go back to sleep on the weekends. Only downside is I generally keep a drink on my nightstand as well, and sometimes my husband accidentally knocks it over when he puts his arm under my pillow while spooning me. Sometimes it's his hand that hits it, most often it's him moving the pillow that knocks it over. Not a big deal with a sealed bottle, but sometimes it's an open cup.

I keep them on my nightstand next to the three other pills I take every night so that I remember them all together.

I'm not on the pill. I have my tubes tied. But when I was on the pill I normally kept them in my purse in case I went out and didn't make it home.

I usually keep mine on the nightstand-ish-thing behind my bed, my desk, or in my purse or backpack. I tend to forget to take them places, haha.

I keep mine on my computer desk because if they are put away I forget to take them on time. I'm on a low dose progestin that has to be taken on time so ya...this allows either man to remind me that we are really really happy with the three kids we have and don't want anymore right now! Arch has threatened to get a vasectomy if I am not careful and I don't want him to be forced to make that lifetime choice right now.

I, like totally, love you! I wish I could have said that to my Mom. She'd have shit kittens. Which would have been amazing to see.

Although I don't take them anymore, when I did I kept them in front of my kettle. I make a tea every morning when I wake up and if something is out of sight it is out of mind for me. When I would click the kettle on, they were right there in my face so I would not ever forget.

I don't take them anymore, I just love my IUD. When I was taking them, I kept them on the bathroom sink, next to my toothbrush. It worked, in that, if I was going away, I always took my toothbrush and my pills were also right there.

Out in the open with my other pills so that I stand half a chance of remembering to take it.

In the kitchen in a basket with my vitamins and anti-depressant; this is also where the family keeps the pain relievers, sinus stuff, and all that. It's right next to my door, so I'm faced with it every morning.

"Shit kittens." LOL! I think my mom had a litter of these about every week when I was a teenager.

Putting "I like tap dancing naked in public" as an option was just too awesome for me to not pick it!

I usually leave it lying around my desk somewhere or in my purse if I'm leaving the house for more than a few hours at a time.

For women who regularly take birth control pills, you should read this.

It's basically concerned with MHCs, something we've been studying in my reproductive biology class. I think the article will do a better job of explaining it. The whole thing covers almost everything I studied about MHCs, though it doesn't mention how this also prevents incestuous relationships among humans (along with other species).

I keep my Nuva ring stash in the fridge (free BC is a major perk of having a mom who works for an OBGYN). When I was on the pill, I kept it on my desk above my computer because I would see it and remember to take it.

It's always next to the coffee maker. I'm afraid of the terrible things that will happen if I skip either the pill or coffee in the morning, so I keep them together.

Yeah, I've read this before. I doubt it has anything to do with divorce rates, although unwanted pregnancies may be a LOT worse for relationships!

Although scent is very important to the human sex drive, we also have the ability to reason and we are one of the only animal (the Chimpanzee and the bonobo being the others) who have and want sex when we are not in estrus.

Desire for someone is more than just hidden pheromones etc.

Although if you read the article closely, it gives no proof that women on the Pill "may be in for some relationship problems" or that women who are on the Pill actually DO choose men with "improper" MHC compatibility. There's a lot more to relationships than our animal senses or our immune systems.

I honestly think that many women and men are more likely to be able to express their sexuality and desire sex all month long when the fear of unwanted pregnancy is out of the way.

I keep mine on my nightstand because I take it at a time before I normally go to bed. If it's not there, then there is a chance that I will just go to sleep without taking it.

It's just a really cool study and an interesting hypothesis to consider. It still requires a lot more testing and experimentation, something which is a little difficult concerning the variables. While MHCs might play a role in mate selection and oral contraceptives may inhibit this to a degree, I do not think it is the only factor in mate selection. As you stated, there are numerous other aspects to consider.

Also, humans and other great apes don't have estrous cycles. They have menstrual cycles instead.

Mine are usually in the top left drawer of my desk. I usually get up and flop into my desk chair right away, so it makes sense for me to keep them right where I will be. If I go out, though, I will keep them in my purse.

On my nightstand or somewhere else in my bedroom. I rarely forget to take them, I've been on them for so long, but I still like to keep them out in plain sight.

In my purse, so that I can take them whenever I think of it no matter where I am. I rarely forget a pill, but I don't exactly have a set schedule of when I take them. It just occurs to me at some point during the day that I need to, and then I do.

They move. Sometimes I put them on my desk, the nightstand, the bathroom counter, my purse, the coffee table junk tray...I'm kind of bad about that now that you've made me think about it. Haha!
