Yesterday i fixed my washing machine, not because my husband wont or cant but just because i enjoy it, and i thought "i wonder how many girls out there do this" so do you tend to fix things around the house or do you always leave it for your husband or a professional to do?
Ladies, do you do fix it jobs around your house?

I'll fix the things that I can handle, and have my husband do the rest.

I'll fix things I know how to fix and I like learning to fix things that I don't already know how to fix. My partner will do the same and often we help each other out when fixing any given thing.

After installing my partners washer and dryer he told me how he'd just have to marry me since i'm a "handy-man." I love working with power tools and my hands, building or fixing things around the house. I'm always the frist to offer up help in moving a friend and dont mind carrying heavy items or boxes, but if i'm given a specific job where i can hammer and screw i get ever so excited (no pun intended). My mother actually got me a cute pink took set for christmas this year since she knows just how much i love manual labor.
I do know my limits however, and will leave some things up to the professionals if i cant figure it out for myself.

I'm pretty handy when I need to be - but by trade it's my partners job at work and at home, so I tend not to step on his toes, and he's generally quicker/more efficient than I am. But if he's not home and something needs to be done, I can generally take care of it unless it's something that calls for a professional!

I fix things as needed, and help my husband when he is around doing things as well. I'm usually the one who 'builds' things that we buy though. The kitchen table, shelves, etc.

I absolutely never let my partner fix things. He is far from handy and has this tendency to break things lol. I grew up with a handy fix it type dad and pretty much know how to fix most things. If I don't I just call either my dad or brother-in-law up and they come over and help. Same goes for assembling anything, boy friend is not allowed to help.

I try if I can! I like being useful!

Glad to see i am not the only one that is handy, and not afraid to get into the fixing of things.

I am not skilled at fixing things, or assembling furniture. Nor do I have any desire to learn. I leave it up to my DH.

I live with my parents and they're pretty useless when it comes to most fix-it jobs.
04/15/2013
I fix a lot of things but not all
04/15/2013
I suck at fixing things but I'm the tech person everyone runs too for problems to be fixed XD
04/15/2013
I am not good at fixing things, I depend on my land lord for the most part
04/15/2013
only if i know how to fix whatevz broke
04/15/2013
I like to believe I can do anything!
04/15/2013
If i can i will xD
04/15/2013
If I feel like I can figure it out then I'm going to try.
04/15/2013
If I think I can, I'll give it a shot.
04/16/2013
I don't fix anything.

I will try & if it's something safe, I will teach myself. However, I am not going to mess with electrical wiring, etc. I have a friend of the family who is a contractor & he fixed up my house before I moved in, so he's the one I call for anything major.

If it is something I know I can do without help yes I will do it. If I need help I have my dad help me

Oh yes! I've been riggin' and fixing shit since I was a kid. LOL. I've fixed all sorts of things. I'm pretty good at it, too. No way I'd leave the fixing to someone else. I like being able to fix something. It makes me feel nice and handy and useful. Now, my lovie is one hell of a fixer upper, but I am skilled in that area as well. He's pretty amazing at it, though. There's no way in heck I'd wait for someone else (or even pay someone unless I had to) to fix something for me. Lol. I'm surprised I haven't gone to work on the wiring in my bedroom yet. Ever since this one "electrician" done something several years ago, my room has been all F'd up. Strange happenings like the light bulb blowing if the lights are turned off, the plug ins randomly screwing up the electronic & then working again (same plugs, same appliance) two months later. The only reason I've not gotten down and dirty and tried fixing it myself is because of how dangerous it is. Almost everything else though, I've fixed or wouldn't hesitate to.

I like to know how to do things not just because I might not have anybody capable one day in my life, but because of the peace of mind knowing I can do it. It also gives me peace of mind knowing that me being able to fix things means not having to wait for others or pay. My partner never hesitates to fix something if needed, but I will jump at the chance to do it myself too. If all else fails, I leave it to him, but you better believe I'll learn how to fix it if he's able & can do it. That way, I know what to do in the future. Like my Chi hair iron.
