Ladies, are you buying into the notion that the "little blue dress" is the next "must have" item?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
It seems for a long time everyone of us had to have a "little black dress". Once we did, however, it seems the fashion designers need to find something new we "all simply must have". Now, it appears that is the "little blue dress" (Usually white background with a mild blue floral print".
Are you "buying in" or do you think it is another fashion "hype" that will soon fade away?

I think it's another fashion "hype" that will soon fade away. I know floral will never be in my closet.

I don't care about those fashion hypes -- I buy "little black dresses" and "little blue dresses" because I look good in them.

I no longer wear dresses, so that's why I put other. I only wear what looks good on me (unless gardening or in the house alone, then it's comfort all the way and screw looks, lol!). However, if I looked good in that dress or style, whatever is "in", then I would stock up on as much as I could find while the getting is good because they'd have to last me a long time once they go "out". And since I only get what I love, I have no issue wearing it past its "expiration date" I have pretty flamboyant tastes being a fiber artist, so usually my clothes are not trendy, but more artsy and eclectic. However, I always want comfort now, whereas when younger, I would be willing to suffer a little for fashion, e.g., wear heels. Now, I am all about comfort and pleasing my eye. I dress for myself and if others like it, great. However, I could care less if they don't like it.

Blue is not really my color, I love bright electric sky blue or dark navy with black in tops. No blue dresses though, I wasn't even aware that this was a trend.

I wear whatever I wanna wear really. Whatever is comfortable and that looks nice to me. Most often I wear solid color shirts with no printing on them, and jeans of some sort. I actually don't have many dresses nor do I wear them much. I demand pockets!

I do like blue, but any any dresses I have won't be "little" and won't be worn just because fashion says. ( Fashion tends to dictate some pretty non-functional clothing anyway.)

I hadn't heard that, but I don't follow trends much.

I agree. How you feel in them is all that matter.

The vast majority of my clothing is black. I have a few articles of clothing that are gray or burgundy. lol

My mom and sister tend to buy into the fashions hypes. They have gone so far as to replace their whole entire wardrobes twice a year. Hell my mom even has a saying that even sleep clothes should be tossed after a year and newer more fashionable ones should be bought. ~sighs~ Those two are insane.

Nah. I'd rather have a black dress any day. Well, anything black, really.

I have a white dress with a blue pattern. But I bought it years ago simply because I liked it, and it flattered my figure.

I don't buy "must haves". I buy when I've decided I like something, and if it is comfortable and flattering.

The "little black dress" is a must have because it is always in style. Other trends come and go, including this.

That being said, I do have several "little blue dresses". But that's because I've always liked blue.

Nothing will ever trump the LBD. I'm sure there will be a few women who will run to their leading retail establishment for one. But not this girl. I will always choose classic over a 5 minute fashion trend.

To me, the little black dress will never have any real competition. It's just too classic.

With that said--in my opinion, the color shouldn't matter as much as the fit.
