JC Penney and the LGBT Community

Contributor: Jaimes Jaimes
I am one of those consumers that never really shopped at JC Penney before, but in light of their recent ads and choice of spokesperson, I'm ready to support them with my dollar as much as I can. They are sticking by their guns and their values, and taking a big risk for positive change in public perspective. And I have a great deal of respect for that.

I found this article that I thought you guys might find interesting.

What about you? How do you feel about JC Penney's choice to be part of the sex-positive revolution? Will you support them financially, socially?

I'd love to hear the thoughts of my dear EdenCommunity!

Personally I think it's GREAT that they ran that ad, and wonderful that they are supporting the community!

Unfortunately, the ones in my area are mostly clothing outlets and not much of anything else, and I don't particularly like their "style" of clothing that they sell (I'm more of a Hot Topic and Spencer's kinda gal!) but if there is ever anything I see while passing through that I might wear, I would LOVE to support their store! I also would consider buying things like a bottled soda or candy bar up front, because they do have them here, just to help support the cause

I've always shopped at JCP because that's the only clothing store we have around here and I still have to travel 30 miles to get there.

This made me so happy. There aren't many companies that will stick to their guns in the face of diversity, and the ones who have been, of late, have been doing it for all the wrong reasons.

I admire Penny's for the ad. It was brave and looks honest.

However, I really hate their clothes. The stuff is low quality, reminds me of polyester double knit, the styles are awful, and the prices are higher than most stores with this or better quality.

And, my mother shops there... Ug.

But, I do think they did a good job with the ad. It won't make me shop there for stuff I'd never wear, though.

I think its great! I didn't really shop there before, and I don't know if this will change that, but I really support what they are doing!

You know, they don't have anything more to lose. The company is already failing, so this may help them, but if it doesn't, at least it lets them take a final stand before they go.

I've seen far less noble ways to say adieu.

I would shop there, but all of their clothes are twice the price of what I can pay and just look gross on me. I also really don't like their new 'every day low prices' business model because their prices are still high, and they no longer have coupons or sales. I LOVE sales, it makes me more inclined to buy something, and I know at my store we get twice as many customers when we put coupons out even though our prices are competitive.

But I do respect their choice to put this ad out, and as others have said they have little to lose at this point.

I think it's a beautiful thing. Regardless of their intentions, their prices, their goods or their business model, someone had to do it. If they can be the first, then good for them.

I didn't hear about this until now. I've always supported JC Penny, and this makes me want to shop there more!
