Japanese, by far. But I'm biased, it's my comfort food since I was mostly raised by a Japanese woman XP Don't get me wrong, I do love Chinese food too (REAL Chinese food, not americanized crap), but I can't do without Japanese food.

I prefer legitimate Japanese food over Chinese ...
not the crap they sell at these steak houses - which is basically just beef, chicken or shrimp stir-fry.

I love sushi, mochi, various types of ramen, the sweet bean paste treats, ramune, sea-weed salad, the lunch bentos a Japanese restaurant sells near here have small portions of everything - rice, a type of meat, some type of dumpling - never eaten it, couple of sushi rolls and a fruit etc

While I love both, my experience with eating authentic Chinese food (as opposed to North Americanized Chinese food) is limited. There are so many Japanese dishes I love, especially anything with sweet aburaage, like inarizushi.

I can get something close to nearly every taste and flavor found in Chinese from SOME Japanese dish or another that's typically a little more healthily prepared, (or at least that I feel less guilty about) so I would go with Japanese food.

A big bowl of udon soup is pretty much my favorite thing in the world, so I'd have to go with Japanese, but there is indeed a lot to be said for cheap terrible Chinese food delivered to the house when you're feeling lazy.

I've never had Japanese food, so I have to vote for Chinese. BUT I've only had the Americanized stuff, but I LOVE it! Sweet n' Sour Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Vinegar Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Ginger Chicken...omg, can you tell I love chicken? Haha. Which reminds me, there's some leftover Chinese in the fridge from Christmas Eve.
