Is there anyone here who HAS NOT ever experienced Deja vu?

Contributor: K101 K101
My partner and I were having converstation about Deja vu earlier and so I got curious again. I've never been able to find good information about Deja vu, only that it's basically unknown why it happens.

So I always assumed it happened to every single person, but does it? Are there any people here who have not ever experienced it?

I have had a lot of Deja vu and it bothers me. I don't have it regularly or abnormally so, but I get a bad feeling from it. Maybe it just creeps me out. My partner had it today. He had a dream (nightmare) last night and then today I was searching photos of hedgehogs and he crawled up beside me and said "I'm tired" and we talked for a minute, and then there was the deja vu stuff. It freaks him out. Especially since his nightmare had begun exactly how our little moment had. Well, except I wasn't hedge-hoggin' - as we call it - in his dream. LOL.

So, for those of you who do/have had it, does it make you uneasy? Or no? And I want to know if there is anybody here who's never had it. I'm betting we all have, but I am curious. Also, you can share with me your own weird deja vu's!

Once in a great while it happens.

Seems to occur fairly often, and as I age the frequency seems to increase. Maybe because of more life experiences??

I have it quite frequently, at least once a month. It doesn't upset me or make me uneasy. I attribute this to a lifelong pattern of dreaming things into existence* and then remembering the dream when the reality happens. (Make sense?) It's usually the scenery or a phrase of words that sets it off. I'll announce "vu ja de" and move on - I mean if it's a glitch in the Matrix, a dream coming true, or some other phenomenon I can't explain - that doesn't change the fact that it's actually happening. It probably also helps that it's never been anything "bad". Just a "huh, we've done this before" kind of thing.

* My dreams have never been fanciful; they have always been centered in real-life situations for me that I have either already been through and would like to re-do or things that I am anticipating happening to me in the future.

Every now and then I experience it.

I have moments when I see things in dreams, and then I see them in real life-- I feel like I've been places where I've never been before, met people, had entire conversations that never took place, then flickers of it happen, and I feel a double moment. It's weird, but it never really throws me. I like it, to be honest.

I used to experience deja vu occasionally and it doesn't bother me, haven't had it for a while now.

Fact of life for me - I've also experienced preja vu, in which I just know things that are happening will happen again (and they did). I guess this is why I find nth dimensional travel, quantum physics of the brain, and the elasticity of time so interesting. It's all probable!

I don't think anyone knows for sure why it happens, but if I recall correctly, one of the main theories of the whys of it is this: when you recognize something, your brain sends a signal. Sometimes, your brain sends the recognition signal in error, giving you the feeling that you've seen a thing/been a place/did an activity that you never have.

NEAT! I've always read that it decreases with age, but you and I both have had it increase. I'm 22 and I don't remember ever having as much as I do these past 2-3 years. I find it so interesting. I wish we could know more about what on earth it's all really about.

Thank you all for your answers! I really enjoy learning what things are like for others. I also am a lucid (and VERY vivid) dreamer and kind of wondered if that had any kind of tie in with how I experience de ja vu, especially because my lovie is also a lucid dreamer, and has even more frequent de ja vu than I do.

Bethy Cassatt -- how neat! That is a lot how my lovie described what's happened to him. It was very real for him too. I don't have this type of thing really, but several years ago, the week after Christmas (I remember because I was a teen in high school) for that entire week, I'd dream something and the very next day, it would happen. I was so scared something was wrong with me that I told my mom, half out of my scared head. I remember the very last dream and happening the most. It was so dang simple. I'd dreamed that I was hending my dad (who was standing in a chair) a towel and a fire alarm?! And whattayaknow? Very next day, I walk in the kitchen in my pajama pants and my dad is standing in the damn chair, the fire alarm on the table. He said "go get me a towel and then hand me the fire alarm there." I went to get him a towel alright and considered never coming back. LOL. That is when I broke down saying "moma! Oh God, oh God, I think something's wrong in my head..."

And then a couple years later, at 15 is when my crazy dreams began. It's due to a traumatic experience though, so I finally realized that nothing was really wrong in my head (after the event happened and dreams started making me think I was mad again. lOl.) I would dream very horrible things, and ended up panicking and telling my mom about my dream shit again. Lol.

And now, I still have these dreams. I had one of the nightmares that are due to this "event" just today while sleeping. It actually was so bad that it stayed with me all day. I hate those kind.

Anyways, that's the only time I've dreamt something that really came true. Shit. Now watch me go to bed in a couple hours and dream something that comes true later today. God! Lol.

ChilliPepper: Pre ja vu! How interesting. This is something I've never even heard of yet. Very interesting.

So, do any of ya'll astral project? You must share! I've always been really curious about hearing stories about this happening.

Scientists tend to explain it as a momentary brain lapse that makes you think you've experienced a situation before when really your brain is just processing it twice in the moment.
