In order to locate the newest threads in this forum, I have to carefully scan between every single topic and the original date/time it was started, and I'm getting plenty of eye exercise because of that. What about you, is the newly updated date/time feature keeping your eyes busy?

Hi Rossie, I feel conflicted with this update, I really like it on my reviews, I can really see when exactly comments are left even 6 months from now. Overall I think I enjoy the update, as for the forums, I look at the "All Discussions" at the bottom and arrange the list based on, most recently posted on discussion. I find this easier for me to give my eye's less exercise. I can't fully describe as to why though, there is something that does bother me about the date/time update. I think maybe I'm still not adjusted to the change that's all. Otherwise my eye's don't generally get a major exercise.
01/22/2012
I still think the arrangement looks messy. But I'm the only one who thinks this.
01/22/2012
I think it looks a little messy, but that's probably just because I haven't gotten used to it. It's a good feature and gives a much clearer sense on the timing of things, which is great.

I agree about it looking messy, but if that's the way Eden's doing it now, then I can't do much but get used to it!

You're not, I completely agree. Some places, it's how long ago things were posted, others it's the time, others it's the date...it's honestly not very helpful whatsoever. Everything should be date and time, period. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's a bit eye-straining when it comes to the forums, but I do like seeing it on the reviews.

I'm with you - it looks busy, but maybe I'll grow to like it better. One thing about EF is that they are always trying to improve things - and I love that.

The old saying is you can't stay still - you're either improving or going backwards. Kudos to the Geeks & EF.

How about listing the "date only" for everything posted before midnight, and just the "time only" for things posted past midnight? Oops, that's similar to what Eden was doing before the update!

It hasn't bothered me. I don't ignore the time stamps but I don't hate them, either. I kind of like the new system.
01/22/2012
It's okay.

I just read the thread titles and respond to what interests me.

Well, the first thing I do when I'm back on the screen is to check NEW threads (since I've gone over most of the older threads already), and sometimes those new ones get pushed way back. With the new feature, I have to look very carefully to locate them since they're all mixed with the update posts, and it really tires my eyes.

I think it is confusing! Where is the posted time? I dont think it is Atlanta because that is only a one hour difference from me, but the posted times seem several hours away. I dont get it. Something I posted this morning had a PM time listed.

I think it would look less messy if they left out "yesterday" and "today" before the time stamp.

What I see for the time stamps are Eastern times. Your comment says two minutes ago and then 1/22/2012 at 8:55 PM.

It is keeping me busy and I don't like it much at all. I don't like how hte time stamp is off a lot. Not fun. Oh well. Nothing much all of us can do about it.

With further testing, and actually paying attention to the things mentioned in this discussion I'm starting to see what you mean by "messy". I agree that it should definitely be one set of dates/times rather than, a bunch that say yesterday at 11:17am, then dates on others. While in all honesty I am able to still work/navigate the forum fine, it would just be easier for the majority of people to keep the date/time simple but useful. So, date of post is fine for when it was created. Also, date and time for most recent posts on discussion. In any case, I'm good with whatever happens for the most part.
01/23/2012
I could take it or leave it to be honest. It doesn't bother me too much, but I'm not entirely sold on it yet either.
01/23/2012
I don't pay attention to it in the forums, but I really like it on my assignments because it shows when the purchase was requested so I know I've had the product this many days and I really need to get started/finish a review before I start getting emails reminding me.
01/23/2012
It's not really leaving my eyes busy, but I have yet to get used to it. I'm glad of the overhaul. The previous one was glitched.

i agree! it gets really complicated... and reading date and time gets rull confusing, unless its the very day we're currently speaking of. it made more sense before.

also, saying '1 day, 2 days, 1 week, 2 months, 1 year ago' to me was so much easier.
now i have to look at the date, think what today's date is, and mentally count backwards to see how long ago that was. i'm not sure why it was changed. the old method was fine.

Hey, have you been reading my mind? Everything you've said is exactly what I've been thinking! I really appreciate the Eden techies' effort in making things better for us, but this one seems to have a reverse effect.

I don't pay much attention to it so it doesn't bother me.

I agree! I have been thinking I was the only one who thought that! Lol. It does look messy and it's hard to read since it's small and jumbled to me. It was much easier the way it was before, for me anyways. I guess words are easier for my eyes than jumbled freaking numbers. Lol.

I would like to add that I prefer the date is currently set. I feel it would be confusing if it was changed further to provide abbreviated dates, like: 02/03/12. Which would be the day, and which the month? Over here, it's day then month, and in the US, it's month then day. As long as it doesn't do that, I'm okay with whatever set up.
